If For No Better Reason . . .

I've had enough of all this blah-blah-blah about; this team did that, that team did this.

I wanna get back to, "my team is gonna do this", and "your team is still playing who?" .

So, this topic is for a break off away from the monotonous mumbo jumbo rhetoric the supposed experts have been trying to force feed us, and give you aloof ( could be somewhat mundane ) reasons for:

Why, In Your Opinion Does This Season Need To Hurry Up & Get Here . . .
( my current top five are )

#5.) let's stop with the who did what wrong, and start with the who can stop `em

#4.) forget the would be hype, I want to see action on the field to believe it; rankings

#3.) I need to know; this hasn't been the best few year for us `Canes, let's see what we got

#2.) if for no better reason; I want football weather - it's 98 degrees & you can nearly drink the air

#1.) do I need a reason; it's College Football for God's sake

. . .

Thoughts, anyone?

I'm hyped for the season. Virginia Tech has 2 FBS and ECU for their first three games so naturally I'm terrified of the first three games but after that it's easy cruising with only ACC opponents.

Cane has gone Around the Bend...LOL

Yep...one more month and we can crank it up for another season. I am with you in that it can't be soon enough.

Re Hurricanes...

If the QB play settles, the Canes have a chance against a rough schedule. I have watched the Cane QB's and their inconsistency for the last few years and it has been the killer for them. Good recruiting class building down there this year...

Re FSU..

I think that Jimbo is on the road to building something here. This year's team will be good if the O line can come together. But when the last year's and this year's class of recruits come on line, the Noles ought to be formidable.

Oklahoma is the early challenge and as many analysts #1 team, the Sooners will be favored.

EJ Manuel is experienced at QB..the guy is entering his first season as a starter, and he already has two bowl victories.

The RB's are deep, deep...and good.

The defense will have a very good front line and a DB's being hailed as one of the conference's best units.

The O line was patched together during spring (injuries..recovering from off season surgery, etc) so we don't know what to expect here.

Re: BSU

First year in the Mountain West which looks like a remade WAC. Newness is always an issue and they will play a schedule that, though it is not a SEC, ACC, KGB or Big 47 schedule, it is better than past years.

The team, with 14 returning starters, will not be much different than in the past four years. I suspect there will be a greater variety of plays and the pace will continue to be fast at the line of scrimmage and short huddles, if any at all.

Moore, who needs something like 8 wins to become the all time NCAA winning QB, should be the key and he does have some speedy receivers. The defense will be the key and it looks like they will be about the same. They have to play smarter in the latter quarters.

There are a half dozen kids on watch lists which is what it is...but does lead to the concern, staying focused. Peterson is a focused coach and is not hesitant to do his own thing with all the media hype. But that is hard and egos get fed.

If they can get past Derek and Georgia the first game, they may be all right. TCU, which they play at Boise will be tough...I think TCU feels they have been sucking hind teat to Boise in publicity and they will be pumped....That may be the game of the year if they both go there undefeated.

So I suspect there is more hope than reality....as always, if Boise stumbles once....the drift away quickly....The MWC is not as strong as in past years.

Hope springs eternal just like the Cubs. Purdue goes 8-4 and goes to the Motor City or the Jurassic Park Classic! Your heard it 1st here!

Re: Dawgs

#1 What will the QB look like this year. Last year was bad...REALLY bad. He is a talented guy, but out of the pocket and under pressure, he's got accuracy problems. Of course he was a Freshman and starting for a big name SEC team, so I understand the jitters.

#2 What about the running game? With 2 RB's gone due to academics, and one getting quited, there are some serious questions as to whether another Freshman RB can fill the gap. You have to establish the run game, and the last Freshman to do that had the initials 'HW'

#3 The specials teams are the best in the country, bar none.

Taking all of this into account, they could start 0-2....unless South Carolina is a paper tiger. I think they can beat Boise, but not sure they will...too many questions for me. But with Mark's job on the line, he might have a lot of fire in him. You might even see him get angry this year. :P

I am also glad that Petrino is the top Hog, but he is not a very entertaining speaker and neither are most of the coaches. I did enjoy listening to Richt, Mullen, Spurrier and Nutt. Just added MIles to the entertaining list after listening to his talking about family basketball game.

Most of the media days for the coaches is trying not to say much and certainly nothing to get into trouble.
