Well, I am sure football teams, in two weeks, all across the country will take a moment to remember 9/11. Here is what the University of Arkansas has planned.

Here is a story about the last known survivor to leave the second building before it collapsed. I hope I never have to go through something like that.

It's hard to believe it has been 10 years. There were a lot of brave souls lost that day...not just the police, fire, and emt (my favorite story is one of a gentleman who had worked on a evacuation plan for his company for years and made the employees do drills often). On that day he was able to get most of his co-workers out of the building alive. He did not make it...he was not going to leave until everyone else was out safely. It just sends chills down your spine and puts tears in your eyes.

Before that day 9/11 was the day Pete Rose broke Ty Cobb's record and a good friend of mines birthday. I'll never forget that Tuesday morning when those monsters killed all those people.

As I was winding down from an uneventful day on 9/10, little did I know I was about to witness the most unimaginable event since the assassination of JFK or the attack on Pearl Harbor. As I watched CNN before going to bed a reporter broke in with news of a commuter plane hitting the twin towers, and as she was talking seeing a second plane going from right to left on the tv screen and expecting it to disappear behind the towers and emerge on the other side only to see the fire ball that erupted out of the building before my eyes. My wife was stunned by what she saw and all I could say was "that was no accident". Needless to say I'll never forget where I was and what I was doing when it happened. God Bless those souls and God Bless our Military that continues the fight against terror.

The article about the last survivor was very interesting. I remember that morning on the radio hearing about a small plane hitting the WTC as I worked up to Austin in my car. I told myself THAT is not an accident! I really said "scramble planes". 15 minutes later the radio said a second plane had hit. About that time I walked into to the guys shop and said turn on the TV. Chills went down my spine as we watched firefighters walking to the towers. I am not a structural engineer but, I made the comment that these guys are marching to their death! Maybe 30-40 minutes elapsed and the towers started falling. Horrible memories of very brave men and women!

I was a public school band director at the time. After my first period class I headed from the high school to the jr high. When I arrived at the jr high I noticed a tv in the cafeteria and all the administrators, custodians, and cafeteria workers were all gathered around it. I went up, and in my usually kidding mood said, "Get back to work". They turned their heads, looked at me strange, and turned to watch the tv's without saying a word to me. I saw the 2nd plane hit the world trade center. It took awhile for the whole thing to sink in. I could not get home soon enough after the school day ended. I was glued to the tv all night.

We had an English teacher in the building that was concerned about her sister that was a flight attendant for American Airlines. As the events unfolded she called to find out the flight number her sister was to be on that morning. Much to her relief the flight number did not match the 4 planes that were crashed. However, before the day was over she received bad news. Her sister had switched places with another flight attendant at the last minute...you know to help a friend out. She was on one of the two planes that flew into the trade centers.

Awful stories! I good friend of mines brother is a pilot for United. He survived but his brothers best friend was piloting another United plane next to his that day in Boston and they waived at each other before pushing back. That was the last time they saw each other!

I was working at a county government, a very large one, near Atlanta. It was a LONG day and I have a ton of stories, the craziest one being a Muslim that worked in the office, who disappeared after all of this started happening. We freaked out. Long story and I won't go into it, but it was crazy.

I was in school at UTSA. Surreal, every face I looked upon. The only good thing I remember from that day was humanity! I looked at all the people, those I knew, those I argued with, those I didn't fully understand. But in that moment, a moment, a long moment, where life pauses...I knew everybody. Nobody was thinking anything any different than I was. Some changes in the mix I suppose, a little more sadness, a little less anger, a mix of fears, a lot of helplessness, so many things...but in that moment we were all the same. We were people, we were Americans...and we were all that one thing, that one incredible thing, a thing we often take for granted, and in that moment a thing we all felt a little guilty for...we were alive. We were standing, sitting, walking there in the place we did the day before, the place we'd likely be again tomorrow. And there was something else, in that moment, that made the moment stretch for an eternity...was it over? We knew much was to come from this, but was this act, this attack, over. There were a great many "overs" that day and I think for all of us, that day never really has been over. As long as we live, everyday, with every cursing and blessing, we will have a little 9-11 in it! I don't have the power to do anything about what happened that day, I can't bring anyone justice, I can't stop the next tear from falling, a tear tied to a memory of a loved one who's not coming through a door, a door to a place someone called home. I can't undo that which has been done, I can't undo the visions from that day that are still in my head. But, oddly enough, that is exactly what I can do and still do today and next week. I take stock, stop, pause, meditate (Selah)...and know that I am still here. I can be thankful for the day, this day, and maybe, just maybe, tried to bring a little joy into other people's lives...other people who are still here, the same as me.

This Sat. Razorback game will be in their 2nd home stadium: War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. They are asking fans to not just wear the colors of red and white, but to add blue. "And, depending on seating location for the 6 p.m. game against New Mexico, fans are being asked to wear red or white. Students are being given blue shirts to help with the event. Odd-numbered sections are designated for fans in white and even-numbered sections are for fans in red." (http://www.arkansassports360.com/26525/ ... 11-tribute).

I wish I was making it down to Little Rock for this game. I will have to be happy watching in on tv.

Found these pics on a Razorback message board. They were taken at the Ark vs New Mexico game....the stands were in red, white, and blue like an American flag. The Hog on the field was painted red, white, and blue, and the hog on the helmet was painted red, white, and blue. They had a nice flyover at the game, and the band played a great rendition of taps in honors of those lost on 9-11.

I was not present at this game in Little Rock but it was a nice tribute by Razorback nation. Go Hogs and Go USA!!!!!

The difference between this 9/11 and every one previous is that I know the mastermind was chased down and slaughtered while going about his business. There is an ever present threat of attack against us and we must always be vigilant.
