Texas to the ACC? Well heck, let's just have Michigan go to the Pac-12 and Ohio State can go to the SEC and Notre Dame can go to the ACC and USC can go to the Big 10 while we're at it.

For the good of the game was abandoned a long time ago.

Re: FSU forms committee to way conference options
FSU has been weary of Swofford being the handpuppet for the Carolina schools.
..while the forming of the committee was interesting, the fact that the school leaked it to media is of more interest. It was a communication that served two functions. The first and primary function was to put the ACC on notice that FSU is concerned about the Carolina Centric nature of the All Carolina Conference. It is form of growling out the warning ..."we won't sit idly by and be wallflowers" (why does that sound so familiar?).
And two...it also may meet the needs of another conference should FSU explore moving. It would be much more difficult to make a tortious interference case against a recipient conference when an institution has been on the record saying that they are studying realignment and possibilities.
I do think of it more of a warning shot....FSU doesn't want to be shafted like they have been. They now travel to Boston and Maryland rather than play GT or UNC in the division. The last thing that FSU would want is to be podded with two schools that are west of the Mississippi while the Carolina schools stay all cozy with easy day trips for their fans.
The power in the ACC has been in the Carolinas....and Swofford being an ex UNC player, a long time AD for the Heels, and having a building on the UNC campus named for him, all lend to the feeling that he is a handpuppet.
What you heard was a growl from FSU That, IMHO, served notice to Swofford.

I think Hawaii would make a FINE edition to the ACC.

They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.
The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.
See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Re: FSU forms committee to way conference options
We can blame CUSA for all this.
CUSA was a visionary conference of sorts. At a time when we all thought that conferences should be regional in nature and geography specific, CUSA put together a conference where program location wasn't a consideration.
CUSA was sort of a homeless shelter for programs coming in out of the cold regardless of their home towns. When TCU joined the Big East, CUSA bobble head dolls everywhere began nodding furiously and in mass.
Texas to the ACC? What are they thinking? This makes no sense for the ACC nor Texas. It ain't happening, it's just maneuvering. Texas plays in Texas...Baylor, A&M, Oklahoma, Texas Tech..and half of their other conference games. Usually nine games a year in Texas. You think anyone will put up with games on the east coast?
OK...I know about TCU. But he who has been on the throne so long and ruled his dominion like the Longhorns have, will have a difficult time being just another prince in a far kingdom.

I'm good with the ACC trading FSU and Miami for Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Then picking up ECU, WVA, and Either Pitt or Cincy. I would miss FSU but we'd get WVA to beat up on so I'm ok with it.
Re: FSU forms committee to way conference options
How about the ACC trading FSU for WVU, USF, and Syracuse?

Re: FSU forms committee to way conference options
I agree with BB, Swofford is a unc@chapel hill puppet and Texas is using this as a bargaining chip to keep the big 12 together or let the pac 12/14/16 know they have other options. He is right about them travelling to the east coast and I don't see it happening. If they go anywhere it will be with OK/OK St and TT to the pac 12/14/16 and they will have their own division and colorado, utah and the arizona schools will be lumped in to form a division.
Not sure how their network plays into all this but that seems to be the stumbling block on them going anywhere.
