Bama vs Arkansas
I can't wait for this game. I was at the Arkansas vs Troy game this past Saturday. Arkansas played extremely well in the first half and the start of the third quarter...jumping out to a 31-7 lead. Then they seemed to lose focus. I think they felt the game was over...Troy had different thoughts. Troy cut the lead to 10....but Arkansas quickly responded with a TD and lead by 17 until the final 23 seconds of the game. Ark was minus star WR's Childs and Wright, and stud DE Bequette in the Troy game. Childs and Wright will be back, RB Dennis Johnson will be ready (had a few carries in Troy game), and Bequette is expected back for Bama.
I think Ark will be fine (those were Petrino's words in his press conference today).
This is not a give me win for Bama like so many of the talking heads are saying it is. I know Vegas has them 13.5 point favorties. Bama has concerns with their Oline....giving up sacks (4 to North Texas), and their yards per carry is not typical Bama. Their Dline has put little to no pressure on apposing QB's thus far (0 sacks vs North Texas). Arkansas has had the same issues to this point on both sides of the ball (two new tackles on the Oline). Some of this has to do with both Bama and Ark playing their base defenses to this point....very little blitzing, etc. Both teams have had games where lots of people have been able to get playing time. This will be a great chess match: Petrino's offense vs Saban's defense (I think the two are the best in the business at what they do). The Hogs have two deep defensive front and will rotate players in often to keep them fresh.
I know Saban made a statement before the season about all ready watching Ark game film. Petrino has done the same. He said the first week the kids are in classes there is not game that week. They had a full week of Bama preparation that week. Ark will be ready for this game.
It will come down to who can control the line of scrimmage and turn overs.
My prediction: Ark 31-Bama 27
Go Hogs!!!!!

Home field makes the difference on this one. Wish I could see Arknasas win it but.... maybe.! I will be rootin fer the Hogs.
The preceding statements are solely the opinion of GoBoilers and are, therefore, probably not based whatsoever on fact, research or more time in thought than what was required to physically type them. They're probably correct anyway, so you shouldn't argue too much, because otherwise he'll just blather on forever. On the internet Al Gore invented.

Home field will be hard to overcome but I think this will be closer than the spread....no matter which team wins.

Not so Fast... *Dons Razorback Head*...
Both defenses are stout, and Alabama Defense at home is going to be brutal, BUT....
Arkansas is more well rounded on offense. I'm going 34-17 Backs. It's close for three quarters and then the passing attack takes over and Arkansas pulls away with it's passing gear. Bama having no passing gear can only watch and wish.
Bama's only hope is if they can keep it low and run out the clock.

I'm so excited about this game, I'm actually having a Beat Bama party at my house. You hate to build up a game too much, but I might actually start respecting the Arkansas program if they win...well, I'll commit to not trash them so much anyway.
Like I tell my friends up here, I'd root for them if Arkansas didn't hate Texas so much.

This Alabama native will be rooting for the Tide. These games are why the SEC is the king of football.

Re: Bama vs Arkansas
I can't see Bama hanging that spread on Ark...more believable the other way. Arkansas is the only under-rated team in the top 15.
Bama beat Penn St. by 16, w/ PSU having 3 TOs. I just can't see them beating Arkansas...can't see it. (But my HPE results are woeful.)

I think Bama wins, but as Lee Corso might say, "Closer than the Experts predict".

On sports talk up here, they seem pretty convinced Brey Cook will have such a solid performance he'll be in the talks for SEC Freshman of the Year.

I'm thinking I might not know what I was thinking when I was thinking it.
I'm trying a new prediction model. On the games I'm completely unsure about I pick the team I wasn't going to pick. I'll let you know how it works out.
