I was eager to see today's game against Tulsa. Tulsa played a suicidal OOC this and I wanted see how Houston would compare against 3 other big boys Tulsa took a willing whippin' from this year.

Taking home field advantage (3pts) into account...
@ Oklahoma......L 47-17
vs Oklahoma St..L 62-33

Avg: -76/3= -24.66pts .....AvgBCSranking: 4,7,9 = #6.67

And today's game:
vs Houston.....L 48-16
...Adj............L 51-16 ... -35pts

So in one aspect Houston looks good. Of course the problem is they only played 3 pretty good teams, UCLA, SMU, and Tulsa.

In looking at the first I'd think them the 3rd or 4th best team in the country. Considering the latter and taking care of business, margin of victory, an the fact they were often up against some woeful competition I'd be inclined to rank them between 10th and 12th. So I'd have to say their BCS ranking looks about right.

Since wins count more than SOS...Houston will be in the top 13. But with an SOS in the 100's...I hope they don't go to a BCS Bowl.

After watching the LSU Arkansas fiasco...I hope they play LSU in the big game. What the heck....not interested in any of these reruns.

With LSU hanging Ala, Ark and Ore, i think I mighth go along with you. Especially if OK St gets beat!. Then LSU will win by about 40, except I expect a great effort from Georgia first!

If Southern Miss takes care of business tomorrow, that will give Houston one more test in the C-USA championship game, and the opportunity to add another semi-decent team to their resume at least. Otherwise, they get a rematch vs. Marshall, who they've already clobbered and no help to that SoS.

Right now, I'm inclined with Donovan. If we finish with two undefeated teams, might as well put 'em together. Not really anybody else for them to play, especially if Okla beats Okla. St. #12 SoS team vs. somewhere around #115... but meh. They've demolished almost everybody they have beat. If they can perform clutch against So. Miss. then want to see them in a clutch situation against a real big boy.

The Ball State sysndrome is alive and well...

Playing Houston in the NC, only because they are undefeated while playing one of the weakest schedules in BCS, while sitting potential one loss teams like Bama, VT, Stanford, OK State is just wrong headed.

Lehigh is 10-1. But Lehigh is 10-1 because they play a schedule ranked #199. Houston is 11-0, they play a schedule ranked #116.

If Houston had a top 25 schedule like OK State, Bama, or even a mediocre schedule like VT's (who is ranked about 60 places tougher than Houston), I wouldn't think that it was soooo wrong headed to be discussing this bunch.

Wins should have value. A tough schedule is more difficult. Doing a jackknife earns you fewer quality points (even if perfect) than doing a triple twisting double with a little splash on the end.

Mr. Billybud....I really do not disagree with you, though it is more fun to try. But I do have this question. Why are these schools, such as the Houstons and Boises included in the mix. Why are there 120 schools? You know at the beginning of the year that that all of them can not have a tough schedule. Impossible. So why are they included in this fairy tale hunt? Why do wins and losses against USC this year count?

When I was young my father's friend owned a feed and grain business. They had a toy car they were giving away as a prize, in a drawing. I won. Years later it became clear, my name was not drawn, the friend just wanted me to have the car. Now I think there are more egregious happenings in the world, but I have thought of those that put tickets in the fish bowl and believed they had a chance of winning. They didn't. So why do the Boises and Houstons keep buying tickets? And why do the LSU's and FSU's and the very small the OSU's keep saying they will put them in the bowl?

From a spectator standpoint...if an undefeated LSU does not play an undefeated Houston, I have no interest in watching a rerun.

Today...I am weathering the rain to watch THE OSU play Oregon. That game may already be over...

Houston does deserve a BCS, minimum. Remember Boise St. beating Oklahoma-was it 3 years ago? The real debate is about playing for #1. No they don't deserve it but, yes if Stanford, and the rest post a second loss as I don't want a rematch in Alabama. They were beaten on the road. Yes, Alabama may very well be #2 but, on the above I'd give Houston their day if the above unfolds.

Why Donovan, are they included in the mix? For the same reason that in the olympics that Jamaica had a gymnastic team, Senegal a dive team.

Those teams still didn't get extra credit for their jackknifes and cartwheels when other teams were doing triple twisting backs and double fronts.

I sort of agree.

Donovan, Boise would be in the game this year, if they were still undefeated. (especially with Georgia having the strong finish they are)

However, if Boise St would have had Georgia St on their schedule, instead of Georgia (like Houston), then the Broncos would only have been a discussion topic (like Houston), with no serious considerability.

Boise State has a track record of winning, and they are at least putting BCS teams on their schedule, while leaving FCS schools off.

Houston was 5-7 last year.

10-4 in 2009 - Armed Forces Bowl loss vs Air Force, 20-47.

8-4 in 2008, w/a 56-37 loss to Oklahoma St (the only BCS team on their schedule)

8-4 in 2007, w/a 48-27 loss to Oregon (the only BCS team on their schedule)

10-4 in 2006 - Fort Worth Bowl loss vs Kansas, 42-13

Put Boise on a scale with Houston, and you have an overwhelming heft towards the Broncos.

I wouldn't be opposed to see Houston in a BCS bowl game . . . but I would rather see Boise St play in one. Mainly due to the overall body of work, and their consistency.

If Boise is gonna be left out of the BCS, then, play then against Houston in the Whatever Bowl; if the Cougars win, then let that set them up for next year.

I was just somehow hoping that United States College football did not use the International Olympic Committee as their model..but alas...

The problem, Cane, with that is that this won't be the same Houston team next year. Case Keenum is a game-changer.

But, don't they say the same thing about Kellen Moore. He'll be gone next year, too?

How about letting the two great route slingers shoot it out in a Bowl game?
Who knows how many yards & points Houston vs Boise State would produce.

I say; 1250 yards & 109 points.
