I think the NCAA should have their supplemental pay revoked. The fact that they get paid at all should be an NCAA violation. Good for Richt for taking care of his coaches.

Wow. Now that is integrity. Not sure why that really should be an NCAA violation, using some of his salary to supplement the assistants income. My guess, if he had somehow arranged to give the money to the University and they paid the money to the assistants, it may have not been a violation.

I am with Richt...need more of those people in our society.
And............not sure but I know for a fact of two NCAA coaches who supplement assistants salaries, and it is well known, even published in the newspaper. I do not think this is uncommon.

The key for me was the fact he cleared this with the administration and it comes out later as a violation! I can also understand a secondary violation if you pay a grad asst as they are not able to recieve remuneration I believe. Otherwise you are then expanding the staff number above and beyond what may be allowed.

You know the rules are screwed up when the administration doesn't know what they are.

38, I think. But, NONE of them should have been vacated. It is a useless remedy, and it is unfair to too many people.

I respect ballers that fight to win, not fight. You want to fight? There are units in Afghanistan that can use you. Otherwise, play ball.

This plainly shows Richt is a good guy. It also shows the NCAA is a group of idiots. But another thing it shows is that UGA is not a good place to work, unless you are Mark Richt. Which means, unless you are in an important and high position with a high salary. Which tells me that the UGA Administration comes up just a bit short of the stupidity of NCAA Admin...but they surpass them in Elitist mindset!
(But I'd bet this applies to many Universities, especially the big named ones.)

Of the 97 Div I public institutions surveyed by USA Today (privates like Notre Dame do not have to list salaries), the highest paid assistant coaching staffs are...

1. Auburn $4,196.450.
2. LSU $3,782.869.
3. Alabama $3,686,350.
4. Texas $3,616,800.
5. Tennessee $3,200,800.
6. Florida $3,120,500.

Looks like Georgia has rough competition in the SEC.

"USA Today has conducted its annual study of salaries in college football, including head coaches and assistant coaches.

Once again, Alabama’s Nick Saban was the SEC’s highest paid coach, earning $4,833,333 this season, according to USA Today.

Saban was second nationally to Texas’ Mack Brown, who made $5.19 million.

According to USA Today’s research, of the 10 highest paid head coaches in the country (at public institutions), six were from the SEC.

LSU’s Les Miles was fourth at $3,856,417. Arkansas’ Bobby Petrino was sixth at $3,638,000, while Auburn’s Gene Chizik was seventh at $3,500,000, Florida’s Will Muschamp ninth at $3,221,000 and Georgia’s Mark Richt 10th at $2,939,800.

Auburn’s nine assistant coaches earned $4.2 million this season, making the Tigers the highest paid staff in college football.

Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, who’s leaving to take the head-coaching job at Arkansas State, was the country’s highest paid assistant at $1.3 million.

There were six $3 million staffs in college football this season, and the SEC had five of them. In addition to Auburn, LSU paid its assistants $3,782,869, followed by Alabama at $3,686,350, Tennessee at $3,200,800 and Florida at $3,120,500.

Seven of LSU’s nine assistant coaches made more than $300,000 this season, including three who made more than $500,000."
