Seven Years & Eight Months

I saw that we have a new member today; Welcome to jewall

I paused for a moment, then thought, let me look at the date when I joined the site.

It has been 7 years & 8 months to the day. And looking at most of the original members; you all joined on that day too.

Kinda silly, but cool in it's own way, that this, on the eve of the 2012 kickoff, how dates fall in line like so.

Today is also special for me, because it is my wife's birthday.

And Donovan; you joined the site in its first official season (after the transition from the Sparklit site), the day before my birthday . . .

Thought this was interesting enough to share with you all.

Well, Cane from the Bend....

This should be an interesting year for the Canes. I don't know what to expect other than the usual tough game for the Noles down in south Florida.

It's hard to tell what kind of team we'll have this year. So much is changing; and there is so much pressure to perform better.

We've been able to recruit well, in the shadow of the looming sanctions. That's good. But, how well those recruits will boost the team is something to be seen.

I'm skeptical, because the `Canes have continued to recruit well; only to have these supposed play makers fall flat.

And though this problem may have trended before Golden; he continued to play Harris, regardless of his haphazard real game rendering. The coaching staff went with the guy who showed better during practices. Even when game time action would prove those statistics to be unreliable.

We had some close call losses last season do to the inability of stopping the run up the middle. During the Spring game, it was obvious there had been emphasis on fixing that problem. There was virtually zero ground yardage gained through the line. However, down the long stretch, the D gave up too many yards on the outside, when the running backs ran side to side.

The receivers act like they want to play; which is another bonus.

I'm interested to see how this offense handles a real game. And Boston College is the right team to start things off with.

They beat us last year, despite our having a talent level, position to position. The difference, is they play as a team. We did not.

If we lose this opener; it could be an indication of years of transition still ahead.
If we come out, play to win and succeed; then it could be the turn around point.

Winning your season opener against an in conference opponent is a good way to start things off.

As for the `noles . . .

Well, I expect we'll give `em a game.
At least I hope so.

Most remember the rivalry as a hard hitting one, with a typical down to the wire finale' . . . though, the sting of a 45-17 loss from your last visit 2 years ago can still be felt.

I'd also like to see a resurgence of the ACC as a true contender.
Right now those contenders are FSU & Clemson.

Your boys started ranked preseason #5 last year, only to fall flat.
You're preseason ranked @ #7 this year. Let's hope for the better.

I'm ready for this season; Kickoff is in a couple of hours.

Let's all hope for a great year . . . One with minimal injuries; safe & fair play . . . and 7 losses to both notre dame & florida
