Really Strange Game..

Savannah State was so horrible....

FSU goes up 35-0 in the 1st qtr....plays 3rd and 4th string...up 55-0 early in the 3rd.

A decision was made at the half to "run the clock" as a mercy...it never stopped in the second half. Weird watching time roll off on a penalty.

Then with FSU up 55-0 and only seven minutes gone in the 3rd, they called the game. Officially it will go down as called for weather (cleared with NCAA). But both programs just wanted to end the game and they confabbed. The score would have gotten out of hand (Savannah had 28 total yards).

Ther NCAA said they would count it as a complete game..so it was called.

The strangest thing? There were twitters that the Savannah State coach asked that it go down as a tie...FSU refused and said.."no. we'll play it out then".

billybud, if this is true then it's really sad, because I've seen the WARRIORS lose in some really lopsided games and play to the end! :?

"In light of the severe weather conditions that we have encountered throughout the evening and after consultation with officials from Savannah State, the ACC and NCAA, we have determined it is best for us to terminate the game with a determined final score of 55-0 as it was when play was last suspended with 8:59 left in the 3rd quarter. The game will be recorded as a completed game for statistical purposes."

FSU played six minutes of the third quarter with the clock running continuously...it was going to be a slaughter. Both sides decided to call it quits after the NCAA agreed to call it a weather shortened game.

Jimbo's comment: "Well, it's easy for me to sit there and say I want to keep playing, but I understand the situation they're in, especially when they have bad weather coming and the bus ride and doing the things they have to do. But as a competitor, I want to see some of our young guys, but I totally understand, I don't have a problem with that, that's just the nature of the situation we were in. "

Well...actually, both coaches have to agree to end the game early with the score intact...The Savannah State coach said if it was his vote he wanted to end the game early but have it notated as a tie or draw...FSU said "naw"...we'll play it out, then. They then decided tp call the game early.

Article 3

If a game is suspended under Rules 3-3-3-a and b before the end of the
fourth period and cannot be resumed, there are four possible options:
1. Resume the game at a later date;
2. Terminate the game with a determined final score;
3. Forfeit of the game; or
4. Declare a no contest.
The option that takes effect shall be determined by conference policy if
both institutions are members of the same conference. In non-conference
competition, the directors of athletics at the participating institutions or their
designees, in consultation with the coaches, must agree on one of the four
options. This agreement will include the final score if the game is terminated
