What a squeeker

A game of opposite halves. UL dominates the first half and leads 36-7. Looks like it's over. UNC come storming back and suddenly UL can't hold on to the ball. UNC passes connect instead of being dropped as they were in the first half. With about 2 minutes to go it's 39-34 UL still in the lead; and, UNC has recovered a UL fumble on the 5 yard line for a possible go ahead score. UL plays tough and it's 4th down. UNC runs the clock down as far as they can and call their last timeout. A pass to the back of the end zone is in the receivers hands and a UL player rips it loose. UL takes over at their own 5 yard line, run 3 safe plays including a knee on the last one and holds off a rallying UNC team. My nerves are shot.

WOW in the first half turns into MOM those big guys are picking on me in the 2nd half.

Still, it's 3 - 0 for the first time since 2006 for UL.

all for now, Swamp Daddy

Not a very good managed game at the end. Charlie Strong was coaching like NC had one T/O left when all he needed to do was take a knee. Could have cost him his starting Olineman. But they did come out with the win and that beats the crap out of losing.

My thoughts have condensed and I've had a bit of time to come up with questions. Was the shift from attack to working the clock starting in the 2nd half a purposeful coaching move (if so, a wrong one in my opinion); or, a young team being complacent - again the coaches should be on top of this.

You have one of the most efficient passing QBs around and hardly let him throw the ball in the 2nd half. And run after run right up the middle in the same spot left or right of center (sort of like Lou Holtz) and it seemed UNC had 14 guys in those same spots in the second half just waiting.

Oh well, time to get going for next week. 3 straight road games and an off week before they are home again. I hope there is more consistency for the whole game somewhere.
