I wonder if this was at Myers' direction? The HC had to be in the know...

Stupid rule anyway! I equate this to the Geneva Convention being expanded to include sending all war plans to enemy combatants.

I agree. I've never understood this rule.

But at the same time, I would highly doubt that Meyer didn't know or even order it done himself.

I am not sure I am able to equate a football game with the rules of war, but there are a lot of things I do not get.

If they were doctored, I can not believe Urban Meyer is that stupid, if they were and he did know, there should immediately be another opening for John L. Smith. This is football and schools agreed to abide by certain rules. If you want to change the rule, then change it, but you do not get to arbitrarily decide to make those changes. And I bet Arkansas would trade straight across on the John L. Smith - Urban Meyer trade and provide him with complete Photo laboratories and staff.

If the tape was doctored then he knew. The thing about this tape thing, though, is Ohio State isn't their only source for film. They could have requested and gotted film from any Ohio State opponent. After the game is no time to start calling foul.

I am chortling. We all have a hard enough time defending our schools for bad football plays, performance and game management when it really counts, on the field...but when we have to try and explain and our schools stupidity...that gets tiring......I bet you Spence, never thought you would have to worry about Ohio State University having to defend sophomoric behavior....anyway........Guilty..off with their heads....now lets found out what happened.

I think they probably were guilty. As I have said before, Urban Meyer is an arrogant jerk. I won't defend him. I'm still a Buckeye, though. and I will be long after he is gone. I am stuck with him for the time being. What I won't ever do is take up for a coach I don't care for just because our board of regents decided to hire him to coach my team. I can separate the two.

The Big Ten - until now - had gentleman's agreements on lots of issues. Urban Meyer, while not breaking any rules (that I know of) seems to have little regard for that sort of thing. Gene Smith seems to think it is OK too.

Meyer says he is a huge W.W. Hayes fan. I don't think that would have been something Woody would have done. Woody and Bo helped create the atmosphere that Big Ten teams worked in. This is an article about the guy Meyer says he wants to be and his most famous protege. http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/11/12/quad-qa-the-rivalry-between-woody-and-bo/

Are you telling us the spirit of Woody Hayes lives on? Good man I am sure; but, he hung on long enough to loose it when he tried to tackle/impede that other teams guy. Joe Pa hung on long enough to get tarred and feathered. His legacy is tarished too.

Not sure I'd want to be like either of those guys; and, I'm almost old enough to loose it too. Good thing I'm not a football coach

have fun, Swamp Daddy :D

When I first read the title I was thinking to myself "why would MSU want a video of the Buckeyes doctor". Read the story and now get it. :D

OSU can keep Meyer and Ark will gladly give OSU John L Smith.

LOL...yes...doctor is a verb as well as a noun.

The clue would be no possessive use in the title as it would be for the noun....

Woody had a terrible temper and lots of health problems that he kept hidden. He did hang on longer than he could keep his temper in check and frankly longer than he was relevent in CFB. The thing most people outside of Ohio don't know was how he made weekly visits to children's hospital until the day he died. How many people's lives he changed (both inside and outside) football. He didn't do what he did for positive PR or it would have ended when he was fired. He lived what he preached. He was the man everyone saw on gamedays for sure, but he was also another this other guy not many people got to see. I don't think Urban Meyer will ever live up to that legacy, no matter what he does on the football field.

Yes, but you my friend have more tongue, tale, language, and pen talent in your exhale than than the typical journalist has in their entire tool box these days. Journalist have very little grammar or narrative ability these days...it is at quite a repugnant level online!
