Some of the negatives of the resurgeance of UL under Charlie Strong can be found here:

Read the two articles on Stong warning off agents in general from bothering his players and their families.

And, go here to find out what started his anti-agent campaign:

It brings new meaning to the words "ambushed" and "low-life". Now, on the other hand if you are Cam Newton's dad, the more the merrier and the more money in my pocket.

Quite interesting, Swamp Daddy :)

If you only have time for one link, go here:

as CBS picks Louisville the overall #1 team in sports last year.

If you want a longer story, see the link in the next post.

I can't see Louisville losing more than one game this year with their schedule......and really, there is a good chance to run the table.

I just read on another board that for Florida to go unbeaten, they would have to beat 6 teams in the Top 15 and that does not include the SEC championship game. Louisville, on the other hand does not play a team in the Top 30.

florida better not look past week 1, in preparedness for week 2.

Toledo can give the gators more than a handful.
But, with Miami in their second game ...

And, for Florida, it was the same last year. Toughest schedule in the nation, missed the National Championship game by losing to Georgia. And, in the bowl, Louisville, with one of the weakest schedules in the nation, kicked their butt. On any given day anything can happen.

I am begining to think strength of schedule is somewhat overrated.

Well, the more difficult the schedule, the more often players have to give more of themselves.

The rigors of having to compete against tougher opponents takes a lot out on the players.
Weaker competition will not push a team deep into the game.

Wear & Tear doesn't become as much of a factor, because a team does not have to exert themselves to the point of fatigue. And so, a softer schedule, over the course of a season, will not carry the overall tiring/durability effect that playing regularly ranked competition would.

I totally agree with this, as it is better to be unbeaten playing no top teams, than it is to have 2 losses playing a murderous schedule.
The problem pollsters have is that there is very difficult to evaluate a team with a weak schedule. In other words, a team with a weak schedule may be the best team in the country, but no way to know without significant competition. Then they only must play a bowl game and in 1 game, as you stated, anything can happen.

Louisville, to some might be this year's Boise State.

That is exactly right.

Been calling this the Ball State syndrome...ever since Ball State went 12-0 and was ranked in Top 10...only to get destroyed by Tulsa in the bowl.

Or Cincy...12-0 and then got annihilated by Florida in the bowl,

Or Louisville and Boise State beating Florida and Oklahoma. --- and a host of others in Boise State's case. The record doesn't prove they should or should not get a chance. There have been elites cruise through an easy schedule and win a national championship and also get beat badly in the bowl game.

The fact is that a poor strength of schedule doesn't prove you are a great team or not a great team. It only proves that your competition to date hasn't been great.
