Well, I don't know what Arkansas is going to do now. We learned today that Altman was the fall back guy if all the big names turned Arkansas down. Before Altman was offered the job, Arkansas offered the position to: Bill Self (Kansas), Tim Floyd (USC), John Calipari (Memphis), and Billy Gillispie (Texas A&M). They all turned the University of Arkansas down and then Altman was offered the job.

Arkansas has hired an Atlanta firm to conduct a new search. Rumors say that Rick Majerus (formely at Utah and current ESPN analyst) and Mike Montgomery (former Stanford coach and ex NBA coach with the Golden State Warriors).

I like Majerus but he has health issues. He was offered the USC job a couple of years ago but health issues kept him from taking the job.

The Chancelor of the University of Arkansas said today that money would not be a factor in hiring the next coach. That is a bold statement from the Chancelor. So, whoever gets this job next year looks to be rewarded finacially, they will have the luxury of playing in one of the top arenas in all of college sports (Bud Walton Arena), and will have a team that returns every player (including the SEC freshman of the year as well as the SEC defensive player of the year).
"A team with something to play for is dangerous, but a team with someone to play for is unstoppable..." Arkansas OL Brey Cook quote following the death of teammate Garrett Uekman (Nov. 2011).
