In one of the better matchups of the day, the Butler Bulldogs defeated the Davidson Wildcats73-62. For Butler, Gordon Hayward led the way with 17 points, and Willie Veasley chipped in with 15 points. Ben Allison had 13 points for Davidson.

Butler started off slowly and was down by as many as 10 points. Butler went on a 14-2 spurt at the end of the first half to take a two point lead at the half. The game was later tied at 58, but Butler went on a 10-0 run and took control of the game. Butler had a huge edge in the game in points off turnovers.
