I thought I try to get more people excited about college basketball by making some predictions and see if people will join in the fun. I try alternating between the obscure and the major until its done. Let's start with the SWAC.
1. Jackson State-You got to go with the team that has a player averaging 30 points a game and that is what Jackson State has in Trey Johnson.
2. Alabama State-Led by last year's conference freshman of the year Andrew Hayles.
3. Alabama A&M-The only team with a winning record right now is led by Cornelius Hester.
4. Alcorn State-A team returning all 5 starters.
5. Southern-Last year's champion has to replace 3 of 4 top scorers.
6. Arkansas-Pine Bluff-Led by do-everything forward William Byrd. Too bad everybody else does very little.
7. Grambling State-Best player is 5-10 Andre' Ratliff.
8. Texas Southern-Runs guard oriented system with a small front line.
9. Mississippi Valley State-Seven foot Ron Alexander returns after missing most of the season last year after being diagnosed with Crohn's disease.
10. Prairie View A&M-Recent problems continue after overhauling the roster from last season.

WOW! You appear to be way more educated on this stuff than I am. It's like me talking about Delta State's quarterback preparing to play GVSU or something
If I were to make a pick, I would take Jackson State too. Anybody can win the SWAC and MEAC conferences. Have you noticed that the champion of those 2 conferences are rarely the best teams?

Running bowl/MSU/OSU record '05-present: 11-32
SWAC
As far as the SWAC is concerned, it is called research and guess work. The website for the conference is quite informative and I took alot of information from that. It is one of the few conferences I have not seen any of the teams yet. The SWAC does have a deal with ESPNU and I believe the U will show about 8 games starting in Jaunary and 1 regular season game will be shown on ESPN2. All I need now is Bright House Cable pick up ESPNU pretty soon.
