Lamar-Texas State

Postby BYUfan1 » Wed Feb 20, 2008 10:34 am

On Saturday, Lamar defeated Texas State 101-90 in the battle between the two highest scoring teams in the Southland Conference. Lamar now has won eight games in a row. Texas State played well in the second half but couldn't make up the defecit from the first half. Kenny Dawkins playing great at the point guard position makes Lamar dangerous heading towards the conference tournament.

Stephen F. Austin

The announcers at the Lamar-Texas State were talking about the possibility of Stephen F. Austin getting an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament. The team is 21-3, has a win over Oklahoma, and a RPI in the 60's. They also lost to Texas Tech and don't have any other major wins outside the conference. I don't remember the last time the Southland Conference got two teams into the tournament.
