Tulsa had problems with its shooting in the first half, but was sparked by freshman point guard Donte Medder to defeat Arkansas-Little Rock 59-45. Jerome Jordan led Tulsa with 19 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks. Solomon Bozeman,the ex-University of South Florida guard, led UALR with 17 points. The Trojans can difficulty controlling the boards because of Tulsa's size, and Wayne Burton getting into early foul trouble didn't help any.
