New Mexico overcame a first half deficit to defeat UTEP 87-80. Jahmar Young scored 24 points to help the Aggies split the two-game series with UTEP. Coming off the bench, Jonathan Gibson scored 14 points and dished out 7 assists. The Miners got 24 points and 7 rebounds from Randy Culpepper. This was the first appearance for Derrick Caracter, but he did not make that great of an impact on the game.
