Fairfield took a double-digit lead into the first television timeout and never looked back in defeating Marist 70-50. With its lack of size, Marist needs to shoot from outside to be successful, but only 4 of 16 from 3-point range. Korey Bauer had 11 points and 8 rebounds for the Red Foxes, with Candon Rusin and Daya Kabe each scoring 10 points. For Fairfield, Anthony Johnson had 16 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Derek Needham collected 13 points , 6 rebounds, and 7 assists. Also for the Stags, Yorel Hawkins had 13 points and 6 rebounds.
