The UCF Knights came from a three-point halftime deficit to defeat the Rhode Island Rams 66-54. Central Florida shot 17 of 25 in the second half as the team became more patient and found the holes in the Rams' zone defense. Luckily, the game did not come down to free throws since UCF made just 3 of 12. The Rams were not much better, making just 8 of 17.
Keith Clanton paced the way for the Knights with 16 points and 9 rebounds. A.J. Tyler chipped in with 11 points, and Tom Herzog (Yes, the ex-Michigan State Spartan that rarely saw the floor there) came off the bench to score 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor. Delroy James scored the first nine points for Rhode Island and finished with 18 points and 8 rebounds.
