Looking ahead, what else is there to do ?

Postby Swamp Daddy » Thu May 09, 2013 12:16 am

Looking forward to next season already. With Russ Smith's returning for his senior season, UL should be pre-ranked no lower than top 5. Losing only Deing and Siva from the 2013 championship team and incoming freshman scorers galore, it should be another good year. :P

KY fans are already calling for the season to be cancelled nationwide and the trophy handed to them now because of their incoming "super class". (same tune they sang before last year and look what happened to that highly touted team - 1st round NIT flame-out.)

I have no doubts they will be good; but, will they gel enough to be champs. Time will tell.

have fun, Swamp Daddy

As a cap to the season the cardinals got their championship rings yesterday. Check them out at:

And, today, they got to wear them to the White House on the visit the champs take every year.

A cool year over all for UL

Generally speaking, sucess breeds sucess. And recruiting is going well with some highly touted shooters coming in and coach Pitino now going after 5 different big men, 6'10" and above. Probably only wants to land one or two. With the return of Russ Smith, and others, there should be leadership to help the newcomers blend in.

As is often the case, UL purchased the 2013 Championship floor and is selling off chunks to benefit charity. Thats a souvenir I've often wondered why anyone would want it and how would you display it. It's sort of like those toilet seats with college team logos on them -- I've often wondered about the protocol as to how to use them. Do you buy one to honor your team? Or do you buy one for your hated rival to dishonor them daily? I never figured that one out. :D

Guard Peyton Siva who just graduated says he thinks UL will be better in talent this coming 2013-14 season. He might know better than the rest of us; and, if the team chemistry is there we have a good chance to repeat a final four.

Coach Petino is raving about his 3 new guards to go with returning Russ Smith; and, he thinks the UL backcourt will be as good or betterthan last year. The back court is another topic all together though some returning starters will provide some stability there. and, several incoming players will develop during the year; but, replacing Gorgui Deing will be tough.

Basketball heaven has arrived in the Bluegrass State of Kentucky. Both UL and UK have won their first two games and will meet in the tournament next weekend thanks to the lousy NCAA committee packing 3/4ths of the nations best teams in to the Midwest Region.

Lousy work again from the Committee.

You had a great run...but I agree with you on the committee.....there is a far better natural way to make it happen......I was rooting for you...but alas....tough way to loose.

I'm a temporary Flyers fan. They will have their hands full tonight against the Gators.

They didn't make it. It was a fun run for my UD friends, though.
