What Is Equal Pay In Soccer..?

Postby Cane from the Bend » Fri Jul 12, 2019 7:27 pm

---

With the US Women's Soccer team winning their second straight World Cup Championship, the media is pouring on over the pay gap between men and women in World Cup Soccer.

The women's Soccer team has petitioned, and declared inequality in pay.

I will leave it to you to affirm your own opinion on this topic; but before you settle your thoughts, here are a couple of numbers you should be aware of ---

The US Men's Soccer Team generated a revenue base of $6 Billion
The US Women's Soccer Team generated a revenue base of $136 Million

Overall, the Women's Team generated 2% of what the Men's Team did

The Men's Team gets a 7% share of the revenue they bring in
The Women's Team gets a 23% share of the revenue they bring in

By Percentage, the Women's Team is getting more than 3 times what the Men's Team is receiving

---

Now my thoughts ...

It feels like a push towards Socialism. Asking to receiver the same pay wage is not the same thing as receiving equal payment. The Women want as much money as the Men are receiving, even though their production of revenue is minimal in profit generation.

The media is using the amount received as opposed to the amount earned to promote the semblance of equality. Socialism is just that. Everybody gets the same amount of net gain, regardless of the quality of the overall production by individual work.

If you have fewer customers, you are going to raise fewer dollars.

How, then, is it fair to tell the store across the street that they have to make up for the missed revenue by the less profitable store, just because the store across the street is selling twice as many items?

Being an advocate of private endeavors....Soccer is not a government entity, should not be addressed by courts, legislations etc. Let them have at it.

Right ...

Soccer is not a Government run entity. However, the topic is being used politically. I assure you, politicians will use this as a platform talking point, to bolster the perception of their supposed disapproval of gender inequality.

I hate soccer.

But you are right Cane, it is being used for political purposes.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.
