Closed Minded = Liberal

I went to one of the most liberal colleges in the country and was exposed to a great deal of their thought process. I feel as though I know both sides of the argument very well now. One of the cornerstones of the far left is "open-mindedness", and that is load of manure. They are only open-minded to open-minded issues.

They accept people that think liberally. I would always challenge any one of the self proclaimed "open-minded", and as a republican jock announce I was more open minded, they would scoff at me, I'd reply "would you ever be friends with someone in the Klan?" "OF COURSE NOT!!!!" Ok, well, I have gay friends, I have racist friends, I have feminist friends, I have sexist friends. Both sides, republican and liberal take sides on what is right, and accuses the other of not accepting them.

If you're gay, liberals love you, conservatives hate you.

If you hate gay people, liberals hate you, conservatives fight for your rights.

If you're rich, liberals hate you and are you, conservatives protect you.

If you're religious, liberals silence you, conservatives fight for you.

If you're patriotic, liberals question you, conservatives honor you.

Everyone has their own agenda, this is how I describe my political preference:

If I vote with my heart, I vote democratic, If I vote with my wallet, I vote Republican, in the end, I'm voting for the candidate that makes my life better, just like everyone else. I'm not going to justify it by putting other people's agenda's down.

If your life is made better off by stopping prayer in school, fight to keep it out. If your life is made better by keeping gay scout leaders away from young boys, fight to keep them out. If your life is made better by stopping the spread of AIDS in Africa, fight to get something done about it. If your life is made better by protesting what the President does, don't vote, then hitchike with a bunch of hippies down to DC and get in front of a camera and gripe. If you want to protest at a soldiers funeral, get the (insert 4 letter word here) out of our country.

Go for what makes your life better, but don't hold how someone feels against them. America is great because of the freedom to think. Why do you think so many great inventions and discoveries have ocurred here? Because information flows freely.

Don't discredit someone's thoughts because they are different from your own.

My problem with all these little "platform" issues is that they are designed to keep our eye off the ball.

I have always believed that if you voted someone in office and they didn't fix the major issues (defense, infrastructure, economy, heathcare) then you should vote them out when their term is up. If people voted them out everytime no matter what party they belong to for not addressing the major issues, then the new guys would eventually get the idea and do something. The problem with liberals and conservatives inside the beltway is that they spend all there time screwing around with petty stuff. They work together in this regard.

I agree with you completely....Although I oppose ANY government involvement with health care.

Although I am opposed to government control of healthcare, something has to be done to control the monopoly that is health insurance in this country, along with the prescription drug issue.

Yeofoot, you're right for the most part. How come the only group of people that libs are INtolerant of are Jews, Christians, and conservaties?

They take the side of the throat-slitters and say that James Dobson is a facist and part of the "Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy". It's really ridiculous.

That isn't true. They are intolerant of anybody who has a different opinion then there own.

I'm talking about the true liberals not all Democrats. The far right on the Republican side is just a bad. Most people are conservative in how they live there life. It is such a small percentage of people who are hardcores and we let them run the country. It is our fault for being to apathetic or stupid to stop it. They politicians on both sides are playing a giant game of self interest with us and we keep letting them do it. People need to be informed and vote (just voting isn't good enough). If your senator or congressman can't get the job done or isn't trying to get the job done, fire him. More then that get involved and try to make sure he gets fired. Don't get sucked in by all the ideological stuff. It is all a smokescreen.

That's kind of the way I look at it too. Being too far-left or far-right isn't good. Neither is being too moderate.

I think libs aren't evil people or that they're damaging the country's bedrock intentionally. They're just misguided, and that's the problem that I'm talking about.

I, too, was referring to hard-core liberals (a.k.a., both Clintons, Fiengold, Kennedy, you get the point). I'm sure you're run of the mill lib isn't like that.

It is the whole socialist thing that bothers me. I know good people on both sides, most of them have the same core values they just don't realize it because they disagree on some of the ideological stuff. If people could figure a way to get past all of thet until the real problems are solved things would be a lot better.

Just who is Liberals and who is conservatives

The Dems.spend money they make sure it has funds to pay for it.
The Gop spend money and put it on the credit card to be paid later.
Who will pay for it.
At my age a little.
People in there 40's more, and the childern a lot more.
The nationals debt is over $8,000.000.000,000
I think the title of Liberals and Conservatives needs to be turned around.

Nice to see you back around Howdy! Haven't heard from you lately!

That's what happens when you're in a war. In fact, it took the U.S. 20 years to pay off debt from WWII. The country is pretty much always in debt, and I know it seems like a lot, but we're in a war.

But the point is they are both spending. Until they stop all the extra spending nothing gets better.

The money for the war is a lot, but it isn't what is breaking us. The problem with cutting or stopping the increase of the money spent is that people have to decide what services THEY can do without. It is easy to say the guy down the street shouldn't receive this or that service, it is harder when I say that I can do without this service. That is the problem that needs overcome. The Dems and the Republicans are two sides of the same coin. Their only goal is to be in power. Until they start being public servants again it won't get better. The people are the only ones that can force them to change.

Yeah, the national debt is a little out of hand, but you have to remember, the US has the highest credit rating of any country or business. If you can take a loan out for a trillion dollars at 5% interest, and invest it into something with a 5.1% return on it, you just made $1 Billion dollars.

Yeah you really have to compare the dept with the GDP, but they aren't getting a very good return on the $$.

The government is supposed to represent the people's intrest. Now, it represents what is in the best intrest of the elected officials. Just another thought, they're called representatives for a reason!

Term limits???

That would definately get rid of a certain senator that likes to wash his car in the lake. :o
