San Francisco

Just got back yesterday.

I gotta say, and I await comments from Rich and USC901, that place is NOT what I remember. It was dirty, and seems to be heading downward. The nightlife on Fisherman's Wharf is NON-EXISTENT.

WHAT HAPPENED??? In 1989 that place was hopping until 2-3AM. Now it's dead by 9PM. :?

I did see that the boats that used to dock at the Peir were gone, and replaced by Sea Lions that I'm told had taken over and the local boat owners were not allowed to do anything about it because they were protected animals?????? What the H@ll????

The Moscone center was nice but they allowed too many people to register and it was a mad house.

The hotel was called the Monticello Inn and was located at the corner of Ellis and Market St. Rather old and run down. But not bad.

Thoughts????

My wife, sister-in-law, and their mom and dad just got back from San Francisco and loved it. Never said nothing about being dirty. I'm still getting wine shipments from their trip into wine country.

..I think San Francisco has turned into a junk town...it always has had its seamy side...but all old memory places are not so fun anymore. Great theater and things to do there...but not so great for kids...never really has been...but most of the old familiar places are over run with pan handlers and people with issues....not always what you want on a casual trip. Some great eating places there, however, and good food makes up for a lot of sins...
