Four Steps To Losing a Football Game…….
”We’re already in a time where the on-field aspect of College Football is almost a distraction. It’s an era filled with handwringing about player empowerment, NCAA deregulation, the transfer portal and realignment all while the sport generally moves toward a professional model.” ~ Dennis Dodd

They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.
The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.
See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Step 1. Play Alabama
Step 2. Attempt to tackle the way you did when you gave up 700+ yards & 62 points to N.C.
Step 3. Have your best defensive player get ejected for targeting, on Alabama's second drive.
Step 4. Just ... don't block Alabama's D-line.

It is Alabama's world and we live in it.

It all starts and ends with recruiting.
Skill...speed.
As with any distribution, football teams will fall along a Bell Curve in terms of power....and only the top quartile has a chance to win a NC.
It has always been a convenient fiction in basketball and football that all teams eligible in a division (131 in FBS)..actually can compete for the title.
Even in our "inclusive" basketball tourney...no team from the bottom seeded half of the teams has made the Final Four...out of 137 games, the #16 seed has won once and advanced no further....and 87% of the NC's have been won by the #1-3 seeds.
If you want parity...go the NFL route with drafts...and only 32 teams.

I don't usually like Sports Illustrated ...
But that article is a rather decent read. They have been improving their writing lately.
I shut the Bleacher Report e-mails off, because they stopped writing articles; and started sending Memes & Animated Gliffs with Headlines.
Maybe SI can bring back the reporting of sports news.
Lord knows, other outlets would prefer to asume they are the authority, to tell you how they believe you're supposed think.

Yep, Sports Illustrated tried to become a combination of Sports Magazine and Playboy…… I suppose their thinking was, ‘if we show ‘em some T & A photos they’ll believe what we write and think, and then they’ll think it too’.
There’s a lot of that thinking going around in the media these days. You know the same old slogan used by the Hollywood crowd, ‘give them sex and violence, and it’ll sell’
Kinda like those form over substance deals…… you know, the same way the Mouse operates.
