Hawaii leaving WAC....joining MWC
According to this ESPN article.....it says they have agreed to move to the MWC and are working out the details.

Re: Hawaii leaving WAC....joining MWC
Follow the leader... the leader being Boise State... The MWC will be the best teams not snatched away by the PAC-10. (Or whatever the Big 12 will become, or even maybe the Big East in TCU's case.) I expect Nevada and Fresno will seek to jump in next - unless the PAC 10 takes the latter. Idaho will have to go in there sooner or later, as well.
Anyway, Hawaii is too good of a team to get left behind among the remnants of the WAC. Glad to see them make the move up... or sideways... or whatever the MWC will end up being.

Basically here is what I think will happen. The Big East will successfully court 2 teams and create a 10 team football conference: Villanova and TCU. While TCU isn't a great geographic fit, it'll at least ease some of the worries people are having about the Big East's BCS status. TCU will have to play in the Big West or Southland or WAC in other sports, something along those lines since the Mountain West won't agree to keep them around for other sports as well in an attempt to force their hand to stay in the MWC. Villanova is a good fit because they already play basketball.
Then what you'd have is the MWC wanting to add 2 teams to create a conference championship game, so my best guess is that the conference will offer Houston and SMU spots. So it would look something like this:
West Division
----------------
1. Boise State
2. Fresno State
3. Hawaii
4. San Diego State
5. UNLV
6. Wyoming
Mountain Division
--------------------
1. Nevada
2. Houston
3. SMU
4. Colorado State
5. New Mexico
6. Air Force
With the WAC getting ready to disintegrate and with the hole left in C-USA, Louisiana Tech will jump ship to play in C-USA West and C-USA will also add Troy out of the Sun Belt. So:
West
------
1. UTEP
2. Tulane
3. Rice
4. Tulsa
5. Louisiana Tech
6. Troy
East
-----
1. UCF
2. ECU
3. Southern Miss
4. UAB
5. Marshall
6. Memphis
The Sun Belt may want to add a school like Central Arkansas, Jacksonville State, Coastal Carolina, etc. since they were planning on having 10 schools with the addition of South Alabama starting in 2013.
Now that leaves the WAC. I was wrong before about who the WAC ultimately wanted, but I'm sticking to my guns! Left with Utah State, New Mexico State, San Jose State, Idaho, Texas State, and UT-San Antonio for the forseeable future, that's just not going to cut it. Cal Poly and Montana join the WAC with UC Davis, Eastern Washington, and Weber State being other contenders. I'd also like to see if North Dakota, South Dakota, North Dakota State, or South Dakota State would be interested in joining the FBS. I think the WAC would just want to get to a point where they have 8 members so they can at least field a conference.

Finally!, UH makes a move that is worth talking about - now if we can continue to win games in the MWC we might be able to make things happen. GO WARRIORS!
To Donovan and his amazing Broncos great game tonight! I missed the second half (had to work), saw the final score when I got home! Great Win! Keep up the great work!

Eric...ESPN reported last week that TCU president and AD said that they will only look at cnferences that will take all their sports teams. They said they refuse to have football in one conference and every other sport in another conference. That's a deal breaker with the Big East...according to reports the Bg East is only interested in TCU's football team (and the official invite is only to the TCU football team). Not sure where they leaves TCU.

Where it leaves them is with integrity. Something losy on most schools. I like them more and more.

It leaves them with an opportunity to fill the gap left by Nebraska & Colorado ...

Also, the Big East is looking to add 4 teams building a 12 football school conference ... and, they are really high on bringing Temple back into the fold; seeing as how the MAC is stagnate @ 13, it would balance themselves out as well.

I'd rather have the MAC expand to 16 teams or something like that, so they have the opportunity for some more hits than misses. Lately they've all been misses

The teams I was thinking about were schools like Army, Navy, maybe one of the Dakota schools, Southern Illinois, etc. It's a pipe dream though.

Re: Hawaii leaving WAC....joining MWC
North Texas rejected an offer to become part of the WAC, preferring the relative stability of the Sun Belt. Ouch.

I have actually heard some rumblings about Army having considerable interest in joining the MAC but don't think they'd do it without Navy. I've also heard that a decent FCS program in Illinois State could be in the expansion mix.
As far as Montana goes, they are not going anwhere without Montana State. Its either both or neither. Makes sense too, this year the Bobcats are better than the Grizzlies.
