Holgerson to West Virginia?
How do you like that hire, WoVeU? Dana Holgerson has been Oklahoma State's offensive coordinator and will come to West Virginia in that capacity and he'll be the head coach beginning in 2012. At least that's a rumor I've been hearing

You beat me too it. They are reporting it on College Football Live on ESPN.

What's different here is Stewart knows he is gone in one year. Will the players look to him to lead them, or will they consider the new guy the true head coach. Just seems awkward to me.

Yea; you'd hope Holgerson is doing the recruiting for this next class, seeing as he'll be the one building the team when these kids actually see starting time.

It will be interesting watching the Mountaineer offense...transition from spread to Air Raid?

Re: Holgerson to West Virginia?
I think I like it. My only worry is about the running game and the WVU RB legacy, thye have done well in that area the last 10 years or so. But I'd have to think Holgerson will look at this team and do what I'd do, throw all kinds of passes on the short porches to many a speedy and shifty weapon! I'd like to see the run and the short control passes (2 to 5 yards) account for more than 2000 yards of offense.
In this situation, considering Stew, I think the "Head Coach In Waiting" tag, along with the 1 year known time frame, will cause no problems of any note. If Holgerson can take some of the run out of the play book this year and endear himself to it the Eers could be really good! But I was thinking he had ran more in recent years anyway and the last few times I ad seen them they looked good.
I had to go check, Ok State this year had 491 pass attempts and they ran 430 times. That is pretty good, much more than honest with the run game. I look for good things!

It's so odd though. I mean did Stewart have any say in the hiring of Holgerson? If not, then he'll be dealing with an offensive coordinator that he hasn't even approved of. What if Holgerson's offense allows West Virginia to go 10-2 or something? Will they still boot Stew out of Morgantown? It just seems odd.

Re: Holgerson to West Virginia?
Stewart is done...the contracts have been altered and he will be through as HC after next year.
He was told by Oliver Luck (AD) on November 14 that he was though as a head coach. But..by getting back into the BCS bowl race and becoming a BE co-champ, he got an extra year as a head coach. Luck had offered him the alternative of resigning or being fired...according to published reports. Stew will remain on in some as yet undetermined capacity in the school until his contract ends in 2013.

And, Stewart traveled with the AD to interview Holgerson and also helped show him around Morgantown before the offer was made public.

Re: Holgerson to West Virginia?
I hope next season goes smooth. I think Stew has the smallest ego of any head coach at the BCS level, so there is a chance. My next worry is Casteel...he has kicked butt for a long time, he won't be in Morgantown too many more years!
