Its a bogus argument. . Not even worth the time to discuss and it deflects from the issue, reformation of the NCAA.

Thanks Donovan for the green switch!!!

I'm half German on my Mom's side and Oma (my grandmother) used a green switch from a China Berry Tree, Mom had the hated wooden spoon, and Dad a leather strap.
Now on to FOOTBALL, how much "pocket money" would an athlete need a month?

Here is something else going back in time now that the movie "THE BLINDSIDE" is part of my collection. When I was 8 years old or so, my best friend was a big Texas A&M fan. His Mom and Dad A&M alums his Dad was a V.P. with Shamrock Oil and every Thanksgiving until I moved some of the A&M team would come over after the game with "tu". Yes I still hold to my AGGIE ways much to my Dad's dislike as he is a (oh I hate writing this) University of Texas Alum as I said "tu". Now by the rules wouldn't this have made my friends parents boosters? or Just a really nice family wanting to do something nice for a group of kids away from home on a holiday? I'm sure this as with anything else having to do with the NCAA is complicated too.

Well I'm going to stop here and do some research I'll be back after I have gotten thoroughly lost .... or board !!! (LOL)

Not sure I understand this. ESPN has 1 NFL game per week televised. I think they are way more involved and concerned about college football.

That is true, now.

Before they really pushed College Football, the only thing they promoted were big games.

How many more professional football coverage shows, compared to College coverage do you see?

espn also replays their Monday night football game twice over the week.

Besides... I also posted this.

And, yes, to some extent, espn has made tv viewership more accessible to the smaller programs.

But, that is not do to lack of interest by the fanbase . . . and had very little to do with media advertising.

There was no need for it.

There is a reason why many College Stadiums seat larger amount of people the do pro stadiums.
Put College Football on against anything, and it wins.

espn is simply taking credit for what they have not done. The only thing they did, was put more games on to watch. Any other network could have done the same thing . . . just nobody tried it.

So I did acknowledge espn's expansion of College Football broadcasting . . . though, it came much later than what they could have done.

They simply saw the market was way too big to ignore, and they just caved, putting on more games, because the ratings were there.

Had they expanded their broadcasting several years earlier, they would have cashed in much more sooner . . . instead, they attempted to rake in the nfl revenue, by running more stories involving professional football.

espn did not get the result they wanted, and made the College push.
Their ratings went up . . . and thus, they keep doing it.

I find the amount of NFL coverage on ESPN to be absolutely over the top. They have a show now that precedes NFL Live at 3 PM called NFL Insiders. It's basically the same exact show. This bounced College Football Live to ESPNU. I don't know how Average Joe sports fan can sit through people saying the same things all week long. ESPN obsesses over the NFL during the summer as well. I know the MLB is the only game in town at that point, but it feels forced.

I've always found the college game more interesting. There's more variety. Different sporting cultures. Every region/state has a team. Conference bragging rights. Traditions. More passion. Rawer players which means more game-changing mistakes (i.e., where all the interesting stuff happens). I could watch two NFL teams slug it out in a 17-13 game with few big plays and big mistakes, but it's a lot more boring than a wild 40-37 college game.
