Al Golden took over the Temple program in 2007.
Temple went 1-11 in 2006, with a sole win over Bowling Green.
In 2007, Temple went 4-8, with wins over No. Illinois - Akron - Miami (OH) - Kent St.
They started 0-5, winning their first game against No. Illinois by 1 point in Philadelphia.
In 2008, Temple went 5-7, with wins over Army - Miami (OH) - Ohio - Eastern Michigan - Akron.
They won the season opener @ Army, then went on a 4 game losing streak before beating Miami (OH).
In 2009, Temple was moderately impressive with a 9-3 regular season record & appearing in the Eagle Bank Bowl, losing to UCLA, finishing 9-4.
Temple would have been more so impressive, if they hadn't lost their season opener to Villanova.
This year, they finished 8-4, not beating a team with a winning record.
I want him to surprise me. I want him to be excellent. And I do not want to snub him before he has the chance to prove himself.
However; I do not want to get my hopes high only to watch my team fall into a program with a history for winning as a means to keep my pride, looking back at the glory days of what we no longer are, either.
There was a lot of expectation & enthusiasm when Randy Shannon got the job. And he brought us to a place where we seem to just idle in the wake.
It be truly disappointing to fire Randy Shannon, only to hire Al Golden, and achieve more of the same.

Didn't see that coming!

It's tough out there...
The Fridge out after turning a 2-10 team around and being named ACC Coach of the Year...
Bill Stewart forced out, even though he has had 9 win or better season, is 2-1 in bowls and his team are Big East co champs...

Expectations! I was just a bit surprised when I heard my Uncle, a month ago, talking of Stew getting shown the door (a die hard season ticket holder)...they love him too, but want more from the field of play (the offense). (The last time the Hillbillies wanted a coach out, well, I'd label that one a big mistake!) The thing is, it is somewhat hard to get a really good OC with some proving...they get HC offers...so it is kind of a rock and a hard place situation!
Fridge getting his 5 o'clock Martini surprised me full out. Maryland has never really put out a whole lot with consistency. So I didn't see that truck coming! I don't know if I have heard of a Coach of the Year getting shown the door.

On Yahoos main page they say Mike Leach is going to be Maryland's next coach.

Re: The Coaching Carousel
That is what the ACC needs, someone who wants to throw the ball all over the field. I hope he gets it that will be fun to watch.

That's what I was thinking the minute Friedgen was let loose. The Under Armor boss likes Leach and probably is influencing that decision. I think he'd be great for Maryland. With that offense and the ability to find NFL-caliber defensive players in the ACC, I think it'd make a big impact.
