Michigan Football: A Case of the "Almosts"

Postby Eric » Sat Oct 19, 2013 6:28 pm

I don't know how much more of this I can take. I realize Indiana's offense is dangerous, but it's 42-40 nearing the end of the third quarter. Michigan can score almost at will so that's good, but the defense is another story. I just saw one of our DB's have the ball basically in his hands on a perfectly-timed instance of coverage, but he got the ball ripped out of his hands at the last second. Nobody up top, and it's a 60-yard touchdown. A play that could have easily been a stop or a turnover goes for 7 points. Gardner pitching a perfect ball to Toussaint and he takes his eyes off the ball for a split second, can't secure it, and voila! Another turnover in Michigan territory. Another gift-wrapped 7 points.

This is pathetic. This is Illinois/Michigan from 2010 all over again. I need to shield my eyes but I can't look away

These players aren't terrible. They have enough athleticism. Is it concentration? Is it absurdly bad luck? I have no idea. They are closer than they look, but the line between being awful and being solid isn't very thick. They know what they're doing, but they aren't fixing anything yet.

Welcome to my Thursday night experience . . . after what I saw of the Clemson/fsu gorilla-stomping, I'm not sure I'll be watching much more than the opening kickoff, November 2cnd.
