The New Mexico State Aggies rallied from behind at home to defeat the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs 83-72. New Mexico State led 44-40 at halftime but found themselves trailing 67-63 with 8:59 left in the game. However, the Aggies went on a 20-5 spurt to close out the game and secure the victory. The Aggies shot 52% (27-56) from the field despite only converting on 2 of 15 attempts from 3-point range. The Aggies had a 23-2 edge in 2nd chance points and a 46-22 advantage in points in the paint. New Mexico State Center Hamidu Rahman had 20 points on the night despite only making 6 of 15 free throws. Wendell McKines had his 14th double-double of the season for the Aggies by registering 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The player of the night in the losing effort was Louisiana Tech's freshman guard Raheem Appleby. Appleby played the entire game and scored 30 points. He was 10-of-19 from the floor, including 4-of-9 beyond the arc. The Bulldogs fall to 11-12 on the season and 3-5 in conference play while the Aggies climb to 17-7 and 6-2 in the WAC.
