TCU/Texas Tech

Postby Cane from the Bend » Thu Sep 12, 2013 7:53 pm

TCU is having trouble on defense.

Texas Tech, however, may have gotten away with something dirty, right in front of the Ref.

TCU's qb was tackled after a decent scramble --- the, after the tackle, the defender forearms his helmet and pops it off . . . should be 15 yards & first down, ... instead, no flag, it becomes third down, and TCU's starting qb had to come out for a play, which saw a red shirt freshman take his place for the down . . . which was an incomplete pass.

TCU was starting to get their rhythm on offense when their qb had to step out for that play. The result, is they had to punt on fourth down.

Poetic justice, has occurred, however . . . TCU's defense just intercepted the ball . . . so they have it back.

Texas Tech got away with another one . . . this time a helmet to helmet hit . . .

TCU's wide receiver caught the ball, was engaged with a defender attempting to make the tackle, when the Raiders' safety ran up and buried the crown of his helmet into the receiver's facemask . . . the hit caused the receiver's helmet to spin sideways on his head . . . and it happened right in front of the ref . . . no flag . . .

I don't understand why they added the rule of the helmet coming off, needing to sit out for a play. Not sure how this would be a safety issue.

I would be in favor of, if a player is injured and a non charged time-out happens, that player would need to sit out for the entire possession, or maybe 3 to 5 plays. This might help to eliminate teams faking injuries to slow down the opponent.

I'm really not a fan of TCU right now. They were one of my big sleepers this offseason, but I had Tech winning this game after seeing the Frogs for the first two weeks. I'm not keen on Boykin running this offense and they are doing a lot of dumb stuff penalty-wise.

I smell a 6-6/7-5 dud in the conference game. And on that note, Louisiana Tech looks crappy.

I agree. If the helmet comes off let them play or set them down for a series. It would keep it honest.

I agree . . . he was trying too hard to make the big plays with his legs, even when there was nowhere to run.

He just seems to be too impatient to be the guy in this offense.
