-12 in Mid-Michigan this past Friday morning.

It skyrocketed to 28 today.

Back to below zero here Monday night...

Oh boy, they just changed the forecast for Monday's high . . . it won't be minus 7, it will be minus 6 . . . and the high for Tuesday just went from negative 1, to negative 3.

I went out and re-insulated the garage around the pipes . . . don't need any of them bursting overnight.

The more you talk about minus temperatures, the happier I get about being in Hawaii! :D :D

Then you'll really appreciate this . . .

They were wrong about our temperatures. It's not minus 6 degrees; it's minus 23.

This is probably the coldest of a base temperature [without windchill] I have see in my lifetime.

Makes looking forward to Spring all the more brighter.

Our temperature is -1 here. I think it is -13 wind chill. I know you can feel your face freezing up when it is exposed. I get to find out if my heat tape works tonight. Hopefully my pipes don't burst tonight.

I'm in San Fran and it's about 53 at 6:50PM.

Glad to be here instead of home where it's about 15 and will go down to 11.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

I've got a space heater blowing in where the water pump enters through, into the garage . . . I'm hoping it'll be enough to prevent the burst effect.

Make sure you do. I am up babysitting my pipes as we speak. it is -6 here now. The news said the wind chill is -30. I don't know, but it is cold. We rarely get into negative numbers here for more then an over night stint. The town I live in just lost a 153 year old hotel and restaurant to fire tonight. I hope the electric stays on. I have a fireplace, but many just heat with electric here and a power outage could prove deadly for people here.

I am a quasi believer in Occam's Razor. The simplest solution is usually the best. If heat goes out in your house and you need to keep warm. Pile blankets on the bed and get under the covers. Pile the kids in together and that helps the heat. Wear stocking caps in the house and keep your body heat in your body.

Sometimes trying to heat a house with alternative sources just doesn't work. Drink plenty of water, that helps keep you warm. (The hypothalamus regulates body temperature and it needs water so it has something to regulate) Hydrate especially kids.

I don't have much of a worry. I have natural gas, electric, and a generator. But if the heat went we also have a vehicle to go somewhere with heat. I'm not talking about me. There are plenty of people that don't have so many resources. I'm just trying to keep my pipes from bursting. I'm about ready to just open up a faucet and go to bed. Running water won't freeze.
