July 1 block party at the downtown entertainment district to celebrate the official entry into the ACC of UL. All the ACC teams are sending a mascot to the event which will feature the usual speeches, food & drink. I am sure video will be posted somewhere.

There was a similar event when we joined the Big East years back amid predictions it would take us years to acclimate to the tougher Big East compared to CUSA. Similar predictions are being made by the usual media suspects over our entry into the ACC. But time will tell, or show, how quickly we fit there.

09/01 Miami @ Louisville
09/06 Murray State @ Louisville
09/13 @ Virginia
09/20 @ Florida International
09/27 Wake Forest @ Louisville
10/03 @ Syracuse
10/11 @ Clemson
10/18 NC State @ Louisville
10/30 Florida State @ Louisville
11/08 @ Boston College
11/22 @ Notre Dame
11/29 Kentucky @ Louisville
12/06 ACC Championship game (if we're still alive)

This is a he-man schedule for us. Petrino will provide the offense, can we defend?

I like how you leave the in state rivalry for the last game, and just like us here...it's the ACC and SEC going head to head. 8) 8) 8)
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Rivalry day has always been one of the best college football days of the year.

It is my favorite game of the year.

Derek...

It wasn't always ordained. Florida, for some years in the earlier part of the rivalry, would not play FSU in Tallahassee. The first game in Tallahassee was while I was a HS senior.

FSU's last game of the season when I was in HS my freshman and sophomore years was with Auburn and Houston respectively before Florida became the last game for a couple of years (63, 64, 65)....then in the late 60's, we played Florida the third game of the season (66, 68, 69). In the 70's, Florida was rotated to game five or so of the season (70, 71, 72, 74, 75, 76)...since 1977, Florida has been the last game of the regular season.

Just a note here: The UL-UK game was the first game of the year (since the modern renewal of the series) for a decade. Then it alternated between the first game (when at UL) or the 3rd game of the year (when at UK at their request).

When UL joined the ACC (but not yet playing) unofficially two years ago the game was rescheduled to the last game of the year at the request of ESPN, the SEC and the ACC to match the other "in state rivalry games" between the two leagues. The first such to be this year's during our first year, 2014-15, actually playing in the ACC.

At first I was not in favor of this as it was fun to trade insults with UK fans all summer and through the fall camps leading up to the game. Now we have to wait until the last week to pick on each other though no doubt some insults will go on all season. :? I guess I will feel one way or the other after a few years of it being the last game of the season.

Anticipating a return to a wide open offense under Petrino's 2nd term at UL, the school has sold a record number, 46,149, of season tickets. The mouth watering schedule no doubt helped this along despite UL not being listed in the top 25 to start the season.

Fall camp is under way & open to the public this week. Preliminary efforts are under way for a 2nd expansion of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. Not much in the way of details yet but feasibility studies are under way.

Several juco recruits have shown promise in fall camp so far. I have to admit that before reality sets in (playing actual games) that my enthusiasm is way up there from the long spring and summer doldrums.
