Looking toward 2016 already

Postby Swamp Daddy » Thu Mar 31, 2016 11:17 am

Well, I'm thinking 2016 may be the breakout year for UL in the ACC, at least in football. A wealth of returning players who should be vastly improved this year plus some incoming talent. We are all hoping for a little more offensive power this year. Perhaps even a return to the old Bobby Ball of the past. And, I, personally, have had enough of squeaker games and maybes. We've almost beaten Clemson two years running, almost is the operative word. And those were supposedly some of the best Clemson teams - hopefully this year will do it.

A fund drive has started well for a 2nd major addition to Papa John's Cardinal Stadium to increase the capacity. I've been to one open spring practice and QB Jackson looks better, and faster if that's possible. He kept everyone on the edges of their seats last year.

A cold spell may keep me from any more spring practices, not sure yet.

have fun, Swamp Daddy :)

Louisville is going to be a fun team to watch this year. I don't think they're getting a lot of attention since they've been in the middle of the pack in the ACC recently, but I've always been a fan of Petrino's offense. He needs to help Jackson be more consistent and they'll be set to make a run.

Clemson, as long as Deshaun is still around at QB, can be a threat. But they lost Shaq Lawson at DE and look a little less formidable.

Petrino's recruiting is going well, and, at a higher level than the last time around. Some good people here; good transfers sitting out, etc. Come on Fall.

Expectations are running sky high for the Cardinals this year; possibly extra hopes on football as basketball/NCAA is still up in the air. Recruiting is going strong with 2017 about done and some commits for 2018 out of Florida already. Stadium expansion will start at the end of this season to enlarge the stadium to 60,000 as I recall, with new ground level boxes in the end zone area. Should be interesting. Supposed to be ready for the start of the 2018 season when Notre Dame visits.

The schedule is medium with the toughest teams on the schedule being Clemson, Florida State and maybe Houston in that order. I think 9-10 wins; everyone touts QB Lamar Jackson as being very improved and he will determine much of our success. We've come close two years in a row at beating Clemson and I expect a close game unless being at their place does us in. Ending the season with a 6th straight win over UK will be nice.

Lots of computer problems here as XP becomes more and more obsolete. But, I'm struggling along with it.

Nope, I don't think Harbaugh has Jalabad scheduled yet for a camp.

I think when he said that his camps were for "mining local talent", something got misinterpreted in the translation.

The local mining talent in Afghanistan are curious about this Harbaugh guy and why he wants local mine talents. I think when he said that the road to a championship depends on another team hitting a bump in the road, the translation got these guys buzzing.

They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

I'm going to miss opening weekend since I'll be in Belgium to watch the Formula 1 race at Spa. 8)

I'm not expecting much from Georgia this year. Everyone is really curious how this Kirby Smart hire is going to work out. With injuries on RB and a question mark at QB, we'll not know until several weeks in what's in the future.

Formula 1 at Spa...a quick side trip to Monte Carlo...a european jaunt in a new porsche...jeesh man. Have you no decency...quit posting these fantasies as a reality.
