Emergency Meetings = Conference Dying ??
-------------------------------------------------------------
Oregon, Oregon State and Arizona Board of Regents are set to hold Emergency Meetings, tomorrow ...
The topic is, Colorado is expected to announce their departure for the Big XII come this Friday.
The agenda, is to determine whether or not a full exodus is immanent.
Other programs being shuttered, all on their way to the Big XII Arizona State & Utah, then expect the Big 10 to make a decision on possible inclusion of Cal, Oregon, Stanford and Washington.
There is evidently a post on the Buckeyes Mascot official twitter account, a pic of Brutus with the Oregon Duck, staring at a scoreboard with the caption: Big Things to Come.

Sources are now saying the Big XII has now officially given them a Verbal Invitation.

From Sporting News:

……..personally I’d like to see Colorado, Utah, Arizona and Arizona State join the conference. Don’t know if that fits with the commissioners plan, he said just a couple of days ago he’d prefer to be at a 14 member conference after Texas and Oklahoma leave after this coming season, but who knows who is actually telling the truth in College Football this day and time.

And that really is the crux of it ...
This day and age, you'd be a fool to take any of these people at face value.

Re: Emergency Meetings = Conference Dying ??
Unanimous vote on BIG XII side and Board of Governors on Colorado side, looks like the Buffaloes are joining the conference in 2024.
Big XII Conference Commissioner, as I’ve mentioned, has said he prefers a 14 team conference, he’s also said he would like to have UCONN or Gonzaga in the conference for basketball.
There are so much mixed messaging nowadays, who knows where things will end up.
………..and there is ‘talk’ about West Virginia changing conferences and going to the ACC.

Looks as though that may very well have been double talk, too ...
After the revelation of the votes, Big XII Commissioner Brett Yormark said they will be looking to "add 1 - 3 teams along with Colorado for a balanced conference. Reaching out to first options from the remaining Pac schools. If not there, then possibly potential membership by UConn, Gonzaga, San Diego St or UNLV."
There's been rumors for awhile now, about Arizona being in contact with the Big XII, as a potential pairing with Colorado. I've also heard, now, that Oregon has newly opened the lines of communication with the Big XII, as the Big 10 has remained silent since the news broke.
We could be seeing Arizona, Oregon and Washington all migrating soon.
Other talk, that was confirmed, is Oregon State's Board of Directors had a meeting the day before Colorado made their intentions known. And that "a school from the Pac no one is talking about is likely to make a move very soon." --- also "the Big XII will have have footprint in the Pacific Time Zone."
Take from that what you can, all I know is, this can is rolling down a street on a hill, and gravity will prevent it from coming back to where it was.

Yormark is the new guy on the block when it comes to College Athletics, but he’s certainly not new to the business end……. from what I’ve seen I believe he knows what he’s up against on the football side and knows where his place at the table is. And while most are looking to maximize their football revenues, he’s also asking ‘What’s wrong about chasing some of those NCAA Basketball Bucks???.”

Yormark is doing something interesting...
He is betting that, in the future, basketball will be valued more viv a vis football than it has been.

If you happen to call Commissioners Yormark’s office and get a busy signal, just leave a message and he’ll get back with you……

This is precisely what's happening ...
And with UCLA going to the Big 10, Arizona is Pac-Basketball.
If they go to the Big XII, it's a coup de grâce. Pete Thamel printed that Arizona will not go alone. AU, ASU and Utah would be a package deal.
Seems that is what Yomark wants, too.

ps. I hope all is going well with your treatments. Looking forward to your feisty nature come the looming season.

………… and be mindful that, I believe it was the 6 of the 9 members of the conference that play baseball were in the NCAA Tournament last season and that TV Networks love, and pay big bucks, for programming their customers want to watch.
Yormark has secured Denver market with Colorado, along with a piece of Utah, Ohio and Florida added to his existing footprint with the additions of BYU, Cincinnati and UCF, and has his sights set on the Arizona market…… and we all know where UCONN is located.
I’d surmise that quality programming during the fall, winter and spring seasons would be a marketable product…….. like I mentioned, the man knows the business.

I doubt it will ever be equal, but having a strong BBall presence can be a way to save the conference and make it viable and healthy moving on.
