From the article:

Greg Sankey wrote:“There’s frustration with presidents, coaches and athletic directors over the last couple years. I say, ‘I get you’re frustrated.’ When there is change and there is frustration, it’s now, ‘Let’s pursue new ideas!’

Any of the ideas identified can actually be decided within a conference or a collection of conferences. It’s not clear to me why people feel the need to cede authority to an outside entity when they can make decisions.”

Sure, Gregory ...

Now try telling that to a certain rodent creeping around the walls of your own conference.

Greg Sankey wrote:The notion that money is a solution to our current situation actually should be seen as more of a threat. In a system going through upheaval, just inserting a bunch of money does not resolve the issues at the core of the upheaval.”

O' give me a break! He's only saying this because the playing field is leveling out, and he wants things to maintain where his conference can stand above with their $100million per team. If equity outside brings other conference teams to an individual payout of $150m to $200m power brand revenue, the ACC could survive with Clemson and FSU earning their personal value beyond what the conference share offers.

Sankey clearly prefers the two league Super Conference model.

There’s that bull raising his tail again, Greg Sankey speaks with forked tongue out both sides of his mouth……..

The only people I’ve heard make the statement that ‘money doesn’t matter’ are the ones who have it.

A history lesson from CBS Sports. Article…… as it was revealed Sankey had secretly been working on the move 2 years prior to the announcement, a.k.a. ‘leaked’. So hopefully, ole Greggie Poo will lower is tail.

“The origin of these seismic shifts can be traced to SEC's Media Days three years ago in Hoover, Alabama. That is when news of Oklahoma and Texas' impending departure from the Big 12 leaked. The ripple effect ultimately sunk the Pac-12, and led to the Big Ten and ACC becoming coast-to-coast conferences.”

I think the 2 super conference thing is going to be a done deal. Not saying it is the best thing out there, but it is coming.

Not a doubt in my mind it’s on the table………. The NCAA is on its deathbed, lawsuits abound, the pieces are in place, TV guys need programing and got piles of money, and the ‘game’ is for sale.

If the market and money is there and they avoid a pissin’ contest with the NFL, I agree, it’s a “done deal”.

I just see this as an end to scholarship opportunities for athletes who play non revenue sports. These kids are going to get thrown to the side to support this system.

If there’s even a hint of that happening, that’s where Congress needs to step in. These guys have already steamrolled the NCAA. So let’s get a Congressional Committee together to reel this bunch in with some laws to help guide them along.

This whole thing is ugly, and apparently is getting uglier……….

Maybe it’s time to put these Conference Commissioners, University Presidents, Athletic Directors, Coaches AND Donors in front of a Congressional Committee…….. and tell them to bring those TV and Print Media guys and Gambling guys and Recruiting Agents along with them.

Then, maybe we’ll have a better understanding of what goes on off the field.
