What they were doing 40 years ago was against the rules and can with a DEATH PENALTY…… nowadays, it’s legal and if you’ve got enough money and you’re good at it, just get in the right Conference and you can “buy” a National Title too!!!!!!

Unfortunately that is exactly correct. I don't view NIL in and of itself as bad, but the way the schools have jerk the process is going to ruin the sport. Or at the very least make if come crashing down to a reckoning.
