Isn't Mallett around 40?

No...not that old.
He played 1 year at Michigan....sat out last year at Ark and played this year at Ark. He was a red-shirt sophopmore this year. He has 2 more years of eligibility left.

I thought he'd be back. He still needs some polishing and it was a good decision to stay. I think the Hogs will do very well next year.

Mallett has mad skills as a QB; easily NFL physical talent. He just makes some bad decisions. That is where he needs to improve.

Now that Mallett is coming back, who will Arkansas play in the SEC Championship game next season?

Georgia maybe....I don't know. I think even with Bama losing half of their starters they will still be very good in the West and LSU will field a good team as well. It will be hard for the Hogs to win the West....however, they do get Bama and LSU in Arkansas....that will help.
I guess Mallett is going to start promoting himself for the Heisman...well, I am sure it is Ark's athletic department...Mallett will appear on several ESPN radio and tv programs today after his announcement.

Spence...you are correct. If Mallett can improve his decision making abilities and on his footwork just a little bit then he and Razorbacks will score a ton of points next season.....and NFL teams will be fighting over who will draft him.

Re: Ryan Mallett returning to Arkansas next year
Mallett set or tied 16 Razorback passing records this season....I have no doubt he will crush those numbers next year. I can't wait....this off season will be a long one.
Statement from Ryan Mallett: (http://www.arkansasrazorbacks.com/ViewA ... =204866608)
"The decision making process was not easy and I have to thank everyone for allowing me to make one of the most important choices of my life. Everyone knows I grew up a Razorback fan and parked cars at homes games as a kid. The NFL is a goal of mine, but being a Razorback has always been my dream. Fayetteville is where my heart is and my work here is not finished. I know I can improve on several things on the field and off the field. I can become a stronger leader for this community and can use another year in college to continue my growth as a person. My dream was always to play for the Razorbacks and now I want more for all of us. Good quarterbacks set records and great quarterbacks play for and win championships. I'm excited for next season and working with my teammates to be a part of putting a championship culture in place here. The leadership of Chancellor Gearhart and our Director of Athletics Jeff Long is a model for me. I feel like Bobby Petrino is the greatest coach in the nation and we have the greatest fans in the nation. I want to help lead this team to a place among the nation's elite and this community to have a mindset to expect greatness. I'm not saying we will get there every season, but that should always be our goal. I'm proud of who we are and I'm proud that I'm a Razorback."

Now that is funny. Don't think Arky is gonna sniff the SEC for at least 5 years.

Arkansas has played in 3 SEC Championship games since joining the SEC in the 90's. And I think the team that Ark has returning next year is as good or better then the 3 that made it to Atlanta before. It will be tough....especially with Bama (but Bama is losing a ton on defense...lots of seniors and a few juniors leaving early). Yes they have quality players coming in but you don't replace players like Cody, and McClain overnight. If I was betting with my mind I would say that Ark finishes 2nd or 3rd in the West....but there is no fun in that. I have going with my heart and say they finish 1st. Go Hogs!!!!!

I think Bama is gonna be tough to beat for a while. Saban has those players believing they can beat anyone. The bar has been raised and I'll bet Bama (with Saban) goes to the SEC championship 3 of the next 4 years.

You may very well be right...however, if the Hogs are going to do it...it will be next year. Arkansas returns more starters on offense and defense then any other team in the SEC. Bama is among the teams in the SEC that are losing the most starters. Bama has to travel to Arkansas....Hogs will be ready and it should be a good game. Bama could very easily win but I think the Hogs have a good shot next season. (ARK returns: 9 or 10 starters on offense...and 8 on defense). Hogs will be a team full of mostly juniors.
