When the whistle blows the play is over no matter what. That, however, doesn't mean the whistle was blown correctly.

I can't hear the whistle blow before the recovery of the fumble. I am just glad the Hogs were able to overcome all the bad calls in this one.

I just watched Petrino's post game and the explanation given to him was that the QB forward progress had been stopped.

Then no fumble after contact should be a fumble. That is a complete load of crap. The explaination should have been - the official made a mistake and blew the whistle to soon and it caused the fumble - sorry coach.

Exactly. I think coaches, fans, etc would have more respect for the officials if they would just say: Sorry, I made a mistake. You still would not be happy but you would realize that he was aware that he made a mistake. I understand their job is hard, and mistakes will happen. But these bogus explanation's just compound the problem.

Last two games for Arkansas, 24-11 imbalance in flags, 220-91 in penalty yardage. Against Vandy it was 13-7 flag imbalance and against South Carolina is was an 11-4 flag imbalance. I not saying Ark did not commit penalties but I promise Vandy and SC had lots of no calls. The Ark d ends were held all game vs SC...they often had their man beat and SC would hook their arm, or take them to the ground, or grab their jersey from behind (and not one holding call against SC...just terrible).

Dossenator wrote:Ark clearly created a turnover and the refs gave South Carolina the ball. Garcia was being sacked and fumbled...Ark recovered. They blew the whistle right when Garcia was touched. Bogus! At least South Car missed the field goal.

All morning on gameday they kept saying SC had to win so it would not deminish the SEC championship game. Earlier in the week on College Football Live an actor guest was picking games and was asked about the Ar vs South Carolina game. He said on the air that the shows producer instructed him to pick SC.

Can Ark overcome a ref screw job...they could not against Auburn.

Man Petrino was livid. I have never seen him make that face before.

Doos, Don't mistakes kinda even out over the season? Not saying refs don't blow calls or even games but, as homers for our respective teams we do have a little built in bias!
The preceding statements are solely the opinion of GoBoilers and are, therefore, probably not based whatsoever on fact, research or more time in thought than what was required to physically type them. They're probably correct anyway, so you shouldn't argue too much, because otherwise he'll just blather on forever. On the internet Al Gore invented.
