SEC Championship Game

Postby Dossenator » Sat Dec 04, 2010 6:01 pm

South Carolina is being dominated. They just don't have an answer on defense. Looks just like what Arkansas did to South Carolina a few weeks ago when they steam rolled them. South Carolina needs points here or it may get out of hand. Auburn...3 poss and 3 TD's. 21-7 Auburn

What will Spurier do....almost same situation as Ark game. Down early and fourth down. Against Ark they tried a fake punt and did not convert...Ark then scored on a short field and the beatdown started. I think he punts here.

It does not matter because Auburn intercepted On the very next play but why no intentional grounding on Garcia. He was being sacked and threw the ball out of bounds. The ball did not get back to the line of scrimmage...by several yards.

I'll be tcked if Auburn screws around and let's South Car beat them. South Car is 5th or 6th best team in SEC. As I type Auburn gets hail Mary to end first half....almost as pretty as Ark's end of the half TD against LSU last week with no time left.

Well, it's safe to say this game is over. The SEC East only has one win against the SEC West this year...South Car over Bama. To bad the SEC West is loaded or Ark might be playing for a NC this year.

Yep...if "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, we'd have a party.

Know the feeling, I used to say that about playing Florida and Miami in OOC every year.

That Hail Mary was the Ball Game...as far as plays go. Tactically it was over w/ Garcia playing rather poorly from the very start! SC's defense was just the antithesis of good defense...very poor gap and zone responsibility, biting and over-shifting...Swiss Cheese most of the night.

Football is funny. Clemson took Auburn to the wire 27-24 in OT. Auburn kills South Carolina yet South Carolina murdered Clemson.

That is why they play the games...yadda-yadda, and so forth and so on. We hear all of these things and the talk of match-ups is big too. But more and more there seems to be a lot riding on how focused the teams are coming in, the way they start and the general rhythm, and then, finally, things like match-ups, momentum, the ebb and flow of the game and how the ball bounces come in to play.

It is all about the match ups.

It can't be.

Auburn and SC played twice. The first time at Auburn the last at a neutral site. The 1st game was 35-27 and the second was 56-17. No way the match-ups changed that match up with the same teams.

Oh, and a big one I forgot....game plan and trhe deviation from it...for good or bad. This is huge, some plans stink, othjers are brilliant, still other need modified. How quick coachess adjust from the game films to what really happens on a field are big. There is some trial here...some happens faster by better guesstimating.

Matchups are a big part of it. But not every game is determined by that. There are many factors and can change with every game. Quarterback having a fight with his pregnant girl friend could affect the outcome of a game. There is simply no way to simplify the outcome of games. If there was a way, wagering on the games would be a guaranteed way to make a living.

It is about matchups...........It is also about motivation. Maybe the Auburn players didn't take it as seriously the first time. Maybe they did, but South Carolina gave it their best shot the first go around and didn't have anything left (game plan wise) to throw at them the second time. It is still matchups, how both of them reacted when they knew what was coming. How much one grew in confidence compared to the other. All components of the match ups.
