Two of mine are:
Mark Herrman-Purdue QB 1977-80. Just made the CFB Hall of Fame. Can't remember who we were playing but late in one game that we won on a late drive, the coach Jim Young had sent in a play. Herrman (later discoursed in the paper) said to the team in the huddle on the opponents 20 yard line "that is a stupid play call". He changed it, we scored a TD on his change. Even the coach admitted later Hermann was right. Coaches do make mistakes!

Rick Mount-Purdue Bball-1968-70. Had to talk Bball cause that is all we are good at this year. Plus the Big Ten Channel just did his bio as on of their "Icons". Between halfs of a rough physical game on the boards at Wisconsin he complained that the rim was off to the officials. They start of the half was delayed while it was measured. It WAS off 3/4"!

Not a long time ago, but the Holy Buckeye pass from Krenzel to Jenkins in 2002 at Purdue was my favorite "in person" play ever. When I saw Krenzel pull the ball up to pass I admit to having my heart sink. When the pass completed no Buckeye fans and especially no Purdue fans could believe it. Everyone was shaking their heads heading out of Ross-Ade.

Larry is running trying to get outside. The defender grabs his face mask and rips the helmet off...Larry grabs it back, one handed, out of defenders hand and makes it outside with a ball in one hand, helmet in the other. As he runs down the sideline, he tries to put on the helmet and then ditches it and runs on for 25 yards for a TD.

Former Arkansas fullback (current Clevland Brown tailback) Peyton Hillis becomes first white running back in 25 years to rush for a 1,000 yards in an NFL season (Craig James was the last to do so in 1985). My favorite college moment was in his last regular season college game in Baton Rouge against #1 LSU...he took a hand off from McFadden and had about a 70 yard TD run...LSU could not catch the big white fullback.

Darren McFadden had a break out season with the Raiders. Just imagine what he could do on a team with a good oline and a good QB (like New England, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, etc). He was a big reason the Raiders went 8-8 this year. My favorite McFadden moment was when he rushed for 323 yards against South Carolina. I also remember the game against a top 10 Tenn team...Gameday was in Fayyeyteville and Ark unveiled the Wildhog for the first time (McFadden destroyed Tenn). I also remember McFaddens last regular season game against #1 LSU in Baton Rouge...McFadden dominates and Hogs win.

I was there too. We may have met and not known it. The highway leaving West LaFayette that day was a mess. For probably 10 miles Purdue fans leaving the game were yelling over to me telling me how lucky we were and that Oklahoma (in first place at the time) was going to kick our butts.

We had a great time that day. Purdue fans are always pretty good natured to the visiting fans.

Just how old were you in 1963? I just remember it being not only a great comeback that fell just short, but one of the few times that the Big 10 lost to the Pac 10 in the Rose Bowl. Those were the days when the Big 10 only sent one team to a bowl game, and sometimes it was the 2nd place team that went to the Rose Bowl, while the conference champ stayed home.

11. I remember watching. Remember a furious rally that fell short something like 42-38. And, Vanderkelen lost his front teeth. Maybe they didn't use mouthguards back in your day-the stone age. It's one of my earlier sports recollection. Lost too many brain cells since.
