That is a very cool article. I always like the local sports lore. It is fun to here the stories. I have one with a guy I know personally. He is a kicker/Punter. He went to an open try out the Cincinnati Bengals were holding for players ( they don't do this anymore, but it used to be an annual event) They watched him kick five from 40 yards, five from 50, and five from 60. He did it easily. He could punt a ball toward the middle of the field and it would turn over in the air and land toward the sideline and bounce dead left out of bounds. He could do it almost every time. The coaches were going nuts about him. They kept calling another guy and another guy over. It looked like they had a major find. Then they put him in an actual game situation with players on both sides of the ball -----------and they found out why he "slipped through the cracks", something those of us who played with him already knew, He couldn't put 20 yards and couldn't get close to the uprights. On the practice field he was the best kicker you have ever seen in your life. In the game he couldn't stand up to the pressure. He had a hall of fame leg and a dollar store head.
