My new thoughts on Boise
Yes...I still maintain that Boise is hard to put in a NC game because of their schedule.
....But, I now believe that Boise is more than just a great passing QB.
....Boise's defensive line is very "SEC like"...big, mobile and fast. I had not really watched the Boise D closely before.
....While Georgia is coming off of a losing season, they are a mid pack SEC team...maybe behind South Carolina and Florida in the East. And that is better than most of the rest of Boise's schedule.
....I think that Boise, in the SEC, would be as competitive as South Carolina has been, or Arkansas.
....I would love to see Boise in the PAC 16...they might be in a bunch of NC games if they can dominate the group.

But then too...if Boise got the breaks, they could put together a NC year if in the SEC East. They are good enough on defense this year to support such a claim, I think.
Beating the Dawgs by a couple of TD's looks to be pretty good....we'll know more as the season progresses.
I think I now have Boise behind Oklahoma and LSU...Wisconsin may creep up there if they continue to have games like this weekend.

Re: My new thoughts on Boise
I still won't put Boise above teams with like records and more good wins....and that is the problem with Boise.
Georgia is a middie team this year (currently unranked)...and if that is Boise's highlight win (and Bronco fans need to cheer against the Gamecocks next week)...it won't mean that much if other teams have better seasons.

Re: My new thoughts on Boise
I think it is pretty much a given that Boise in the NC game means all other teams except 1 must have 1 more loss than Boise. I think Boise will end up in a Super Conference, if it should shake out it is one made up of Big 12 remnants and teams from the WAC and MTW that could still help them. (Just getting a Conference Championship game would help them more than any other team I can think of.)

Re: My new thoughts on Boise
I think if Boise state runs out the way a good team would beat, they should go. If two other teams run out and have better wins, then I think Boise State takes a back seat to them, but if the other teams have losses and Boise cuts through their schedule like a knife through butter, they deserve to go. If they struggle with that schedule then I probably wouldn't vote them over even a one loss team, but Boise State generally beats people the way they are supposed to beat them.

Re: My new thoughts on Boise
If Boise runs out their schedule and Georgia is their big win and unranked at end of season...and Bama or LSU loses one...Boise is out.
Boise's schedule is pretty awful outside of TCU...and TCU has a horrible schedule as well..if they lose to Boise they won't have a win over a top 30 team.
Sorry...you did beat your schedule...but that didn't mean that much. So did Ball State.

I don't think us 3 differ too greatly in our examination. And almost certainly, we cover the general thoughts of voters between us. Boise knows what they have to do, and know they might need help!

What if Georgia finishes first or second in their division? I understand your point, but we are once again talking about a team that just keeps beating everyone they play. Boise State could complete to win in any conference in college football and has had been in that position for several years. Would they win in any conference? I don't know, but they would be in the conversation in any conference.
Personally, I think at this point LSU is the best team I have seen. Oklahoma hasn't got a great defense. Alabama is solid for sure, but the LSU defense is very good, very impressive. FSU and Arkansas have lots of potential. They look like they could be really, really good at the end of the season. Boise State looks good like a very good complete football team. Maybe the most complete football team in the country right now.

Re: My new thoughts on Boise
LSU's offense has to bite them at some point. I know they scored points, but I haven't liked the way they have looked on that side of the ball for a few years.
I have a feeling everybody is jumping to SEC conclusions that won't hold, almost too ubiquitous in the crowning order?!?!?

I'm not crowning anyone yet, but I would rather have a team that didn't allow points and had trouble scoring and one who scored lots of points and couldn't stop anyone.

I may be crazy but I think LSU losses 3 games this year: Alabama, Mississippi State, and Arkansas will give LSU problems. LSU will struggle to score points against those 3 teams. Heck, Arkansas always gives LSU problems...even when Arkansas is not good. Arkansas has won 3 of the last 4 (and if not for a bad ref call 2 years ago that gave LSU extra time to gain the yards needed for a game winning field goal...then it would probably be 4 years in a row). My official prediction is 9-3 for LSU and the Cotton Bowl again.

Re: My new thoughts on Boise
Not big on LSU. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and they did beat Oregon by a couple scores but I'm not sold on them. I'm not sold on the SEC either.
Alabama had 5 turnovers against Kent St.
Florida threw 3 pics against FAU.
South Carolina was getting beat down until Garcia came into the game. South Carolina had 4 fumbles but the biggest reason they won was because ECU had 5 turnovers in their own territory resulting in 35 Carolina points.
I don't think I need to tell anyone how Auburn played.
The SEC's bright moments?
LSU did beat Oregon even if the game was sloppy.
BUT Mainly it was that
Arkansas and Miss St. looked good.

Re: My new thoughts on Boise
Boise is a good team, I think. But this win over Georgia will not mean much until the end of the season.
I personally think it means a lot, because the Georgia offense will start clicking and picking teams off. They might lose to Carolina, but it's pretty smooth sailing for the rest of the year.
The only problem being their inability to beat Florida, even when (and this year is no exception) they have a better team. Georgia might end the year with 3 losses.
And that is good for Boise IMO.

They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.
The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.
See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Re: My new thoughts on Boise
It doesn't matter. If Georgia goes off and has a good season you will here people say Georgia had a bad game vs. Boise State and then took off. Like VTech last year. Lots of people not willing to admit Boise State is more than a good team. They are a good program. They are lots better than people like to admit. Yes, they play a weak schedule and they beat that schedule, then they play some good teams and they beat them too. Doesn't matter, they just win.
