Georgia v Michigan St.

Postby donovan » Tue Jan 03, 2012 6:06 am

Derek, Derek, Derek. You failed to tell us that in the second half that Georgia was forbidden to:
1. Tackle anyone below the waist.
2. Call running plays where the players remembered which side of the QB to receive the ball.
3. That pass protection was only available in the first half.

Sometimes you do not know how badly you want a team to win, but I really wanted for Georgia to win and self destruction is just so hard to watch.

That was an excellent game. I thought that Georgia would pull down a 42 yard FG and, I guess, so did Richt. But thta "safe" 3rd down play to set it up was way too conservative for me.

MSU looked to have good team speed...A team that could have been successful in the SEC East. I enjoyed this game. Michigan State came to play. I almost feel sorry for Coach Richt though.

I don't know what "team speed" means in this context (apparently they must have worked out really hard in their speed drills, because they were slow as tortoises against Alabama apparently). They have power running backs. A big offensive line. Possession receivers. Decent back 7. And a powerful front line, the best in the Big 10 by far. They won this game with their defensive line.

Speed on D...

I don't think much about speed on offense. But if you have a slow footed defense, it handicaps you.

In fact, team speed on defense has been one of the defining attributes of an SEC defense lately.

Rushing Defense...#1 Bama, #2 FSU, #3 LSU....#12 Sparty (not too shabby)

Passing Defense...#1 Bama, #2 South Carolina, #3 Wisconsin....#11 Sparty (not too shabby).

But "speedy" Michigan State got annihilated by Alabama who is supposedly a "speed" team at the start of 2011. I don't know how much of a difference one year can make with regards to athletic ability. Also, if Michigan State basically counts as an SEC team, they got completely shut down by Nebraska and Wisconsin hung 31 and 42 points on them in their two games.

You see...what had happened was....Space aliens came into the locker room at halftime and hypnotized the entire Ga team.

This is the second game in a row that Ga played like world beaters, and then in the second half...LAY AN EGG.

It's coaching, but I don't know who can be responsible for something like that.

I do believe that Mike Bobo is the worst play caller in the world, and MIGHT even be gone by next year.

They have a WORLD of talent coming back, and a soft schedule....a trip to Atlanta is a MINIMUM or some people are gonna be upset.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Jim Bolman is the worst play caller of all time.

LOL

Alabama last year also annihilated Florida (and they are fast)...and Penn State and Michigan State combined could only score 10 points. Bama is Bama right now. Just being fast on defense may not be enough, you also have to match up well with your offense against their defense and have the ball bounce your way in the game.
