Chip Kelly to the Eagles

Postby Spence » Wed Jan 16, 2013 4:30 pm

I guess it was an itch he had to scratch. I think Kelly will be a train wreck in the NFL. He had better hire one helluva defensive coordinator. If he plans to use the same system he uses in college, he is going to have a tough time. His system puts lots of pressure on defenses. Both his and the opponents. In the NFL it is lots harder to exploit a defenses weaknesses because they are lots more advanced and the players that man the positions are lots better man for man.

It will be interesting that if Oregon gets sanctioned by the NCAA if they find any Phil Knight money involved. The NCAA receives a boat load of money from Nike themselves. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place. My guess is they don't look very hard in that direction.

Indeed. That would rock the boat a little too much I think. They might find some recruiting problems. I don't know enough about the situation. It would be similar to the Ohio State thing, where they actually have a chance to play for a national title the year they happen to get hit with a postseason bowl ban. I consider that as a loss for the sport because the individual Oregon players didn't have a whole lot to do with that and you only get a few seasons to play college football. So if the coaching staff hadn't been doing something stupid, you could have played in a national title or a Rose Bowl. It's a rip-off.
