Re: Stupid

I've tried to listen to NPR but found it so smug and biased in their interviews, that I once had an accident just to stop it.

But back on subject....this situation is just ripe for a guv-mint "step-in"...don't you think??
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Smug is a great description of NPR. Arrogant works. I think, like all of Washington, they are biased, towards the status quo. It doesn't matter who is in office, Democrats or Republicans, government keeps growing. NPR gets a very little percentage of money from the Feds, but it is the symbolism of it all. They act as if they represent the people when in fact they represent the same people ABC CBS NBC FOX CSN , etc represent....themselves.

That said...it does not mean that ESPN and HBO are anything more than entertainment, truth often is irrelevant to entertainment.

I'll take Water-Boarding, Cut off my Fingers and toes, just don't make me listen to NPR at all. I threw up in my mouth just thinking about it.

We agree on this.

My brother listens to this all the time in the car. He asked me the other day why we never take his car when we go anywhere.

I feel the same way about Rush Limbaugh, Alan Combes, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, Rachel Maddow and Michael Savage. Among others.

I have never heard Rachel Maddow, but yeah, I can't take much of the others either.

Why are you associating NPR with political radio shows? I just don't like NPR because of the monotone dribble, drab shows, and stupid stories. I once was forced to listen how a guy rode a bus for two weeks. Why do I give a crap? Car Talk is ok but it is still dry and distasteful to me. Mainly I just find the station boring and sleep inducing.

There are a lot of monotone dribble programs...including the ones I listed. Sometimes this message board out of football season.

Ahh I wouldn't know I don't watch or listen to any of those not even the news channels. Unless it's global news such as Libya or Japan type stuff I have better things to do than news and then I only check out the drudgereport.

I don't want you to think this is a personal attack unless you work for NPR. Then well its personal. I like plenty of people who don't like what I like and I wouldn't have it any other way. I still love my brother I just hate riding in his car when he controls the radio. I also have many interests that my friends don't. I'm not going to downgrade my high opinion of you just because you like something I don't. Our diversity is what makes us a good group and a good board.

Being, what I would suppose the most ardent, the more small "l" libertarian on this board, I certainly have issues with the funding of NPR with tax dollars, albeit a small percentage of their budget. Are there some interesting programs on NPR, I think Sunday mornings "All Things Considered" is usually entertaining and I find it enjoyable. Certainly we all have tastes...there are some on this board that like country music and heavy metal. I prefer other types of music. Some people even like SEC football. We on the West Coast, relegated by those on the other side of the nation, to be children of a lesser god, just do what we do.

One of the ethical issues of our day, is the instant deluge of current events. People twitter "stuff" as it is happening and it goes worldwide. Is there perception of what they are seeing accurate? Maybe, maybe not. So we just have to as individuals discern what we believe and how much time we are going to spend keeping up with it.

All news sources, TV, newspapers, magazines are now struggling to survive. They can not compete with you tube, twitter and facebook. Most commercial reporting on TV, radio, magazines, is just entertainment. People get to choose for themselves how they spend their time. If only the government understood that.

I do not like watching football on TV. I much rather go to a live high school game. TV make it too much about the announcers. But...going to all these games is not possible so TV is a second choice, for me. (Of course if you followed BSU with the blue turf you could understand the reluctance to watch them on TV...I think the new turf was a slight improvement..but not much.)
