Auburn was undefeated and was on probation for paying players when it beat FSU in 1957 to win a national championship (#1 AP). They could not go to a bowl game but claimed the AP NC. And the Tigers were on probation when they went undefeated in 1993. Terry Bowden stated that there was a pay for play scheme going when he got there.

If Auburn is winning, they're cheating.

Then they must not cheat often.

Razor, all these millions are non profit dollars. They can't use it for personal gain - or shouldn't. Anyway, I have never cheated at anything, and there have been instances where I could. Even in business I have received product not billed. If I could use it, I called and had them charge me, if I couldn't I told them it needed sent back. Either way, we didn't cheat anyone. That is how it should work. Maybe doesn't - but there should be strict penalties for cheating IMO.

My post was nothing of you cheating, but the motivation for cheating in general, when huge dollars are a product. Coaches keeping their jobs, getting raises, etc. are all profit dollars, for those individuals. This motivation may just allow a coach or AD to just look the other way, even if they are not directly involved.

I know. I didn't think you accused me, I just don't think the justification is about money. More boosters inflating their self worth.

Bama fans buying up monopoly money on E-Bay...when Cam comes out, they'll make it rain.

If I knew who needed some I would gladly ship my monopoly money to Bama fans for free. :D

What's the latest on this? The last I heard was that the FBI interviewed some people and yet Cam STILL continues to play.

WHY has Auburn not received the "Death Penalty" yet????? :x
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

I think they need proof that Auburn did something wrong. As much speculation as I have heard, there really hasn't been anything I have heard yet that connects Auburn to the questionable conduct. I think it is still smoke and not fire - at least for now.

Or they did a really good job of funnelling the money to Cecil and can't prove/find it. Like the guy on rivals says, he thinks its odd he was asking for money from Miss St, but would send Cam to Auburn for free. Maybe Cecil got scared after the Miss St deal didn't go down and sent Cam to Auburn for free out of spite to Miss St. Who knows?

I completely agree that it would be hard to believe there was no funny business in Newton's recruitment, but that isn't the point. You can't convict people with no evidence. You can't say to Auburn that we are going to shut your program down without proving something happened. Auburn may have done a really good job of hiding the money trail. If they did and know one discovers it, they get away with it.

I agree if they can't prove they took any money he should play.

Not sure they have to prove he took the money, just trying to rob the bank is a crime.

Exactly...no money had to exchange hands. If it's proven he asked for money from Miss State that makes Cam ineligible at any school he attends...including Auburn.
