We'll gladly take them back, except KFC which already is Yankee, in a prisoner exchange....KFC isn't really southern, Kentucky was a Union state during the great War of Yankee Oppression. Many folks assumed, with his cornpone looks, that ole Harlan Sanders was selling southern fried chicken...Nope...his Kentucky Fried with secret herbs and spices was far from what we think of as southern fried chicken.

Re: And The Winner is...
I would like to see Ohio State go into Florida. I'm sure that will get done unless they go to super conferences. Then no one will be able to leave their block.
As far as the satellite camps go, I don't really care. I hated the idea of spring practices away from home. I don't know what the big deal is, but I don't care.

And keep your Custard Stands....Soft Ice Cream is not Custard!

Donovan...custard stands aren't in the south...they are eastern/midwestern...huge in Milwaukee, the custard capital.
We like home churned ice cream...but will eat store bought..
But not that trendy west coast stuff like gelato...healthy ice milk and artisanal ice cream shops...give us Blue Bell. And, you do know that hated frozen yogurt (TCBY) is headquartered in Salt Lake City.
Heck.....every man my age remembers the clarion call of the ice cream truck's amplified music coming through the neighborhood. Give me chocolate covered vanilla.

My singular piece of evidence that custard was Southern comes from being at Ft Benning GA in the early 60's. On base was a rickety stand that had a painted sign that said "Custard." That is where we got what we call soft ice cream and my memory it as "tasty". Maybe because it was off-limits to us and yet we were 'commanded' to get "pogey bait". (I did not know how to spell 'pogey' so I looked it up and the definition makes me shiver. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/pogey-bait One stand does not make it a geographical institution...so I will ...semi-concede.
As for the West Coast aberrations of ice cream. The large cities of the West Coast aberrate most everything...but there are still purists and like you home churned is still the best. (We had a hand cranked wooden churn and electric ones came on the market. My father, who was all into new technology refused to by an electric one because he said it wouldn't taste as good. He was also the one that never did the churning.
And yes the ice cream wagon. Was a guy on a tricyle, two wheels in the front, with a cooler and had a bell. Cost a nickel. Yep...choclate covered vanilla.

I came through Benning in March of 66...Jump school. But as a Marine Recon guy, I graduated and was gone in three weeks. Never had any liberty while there nor ate outside of the mess.
I often drive by Benning now..and have never been tempted by nostalgia to sight see.

There is generally nothing liberal about me, but when it comes to ice Cream I'm a fan of Vermont's favorite sons - Ben and Jerry's. Cherry Garcia in particular, though I haven't really found any flavor to be offensive.
And Egg Cream or custard is a Midwest and Eastern thing. I don't mind it. I would rather have the Ice Cream.

As with Spence, when it comes to frozen dessert, I am for it.
At Benning I was in the barracks,,,as I remember them they were two story brick building, more like dorms...four candidates to a room...by the end of training maybe only one. Anyway, our barrack was right across the road from the Airborne track which was 1 1/4 mile around. Had a tar track and in the Geogia summer it stuck to your boots, which took the rest of the evening to clean up. Also it is not on my do again bucket list.
