A sleeper in the making may be Nebraska. Certainly, Riley's first-year 6-7 record is not what anyone wanted, but firing under-performing coaches, getting in local recruits as well as from far away and winning the fan base over with directness in the social issues that have been a blight at Nebraska, have gone a long way to put aside issues that often keep teams from winning. I see Nebraska this year as a big surprise to many. I could be wrong.

I'm interested see how my team does this year with an offense minded coach.

Around here in Austin there is a lot of hype for the Texas Longhorns but I'm not buying it. They keep acting like the same kids are miraculously better this year. I guess they will be marginally better just because they got quite a bit of the fallout from Baylor. The good thing is at least we won't have to wait much longer to find out.

I'm so late getting back into the groove I haven't even had time to formulate a real sleeper yet. I do know that Oklahoma better not take that Houston game lightly.

I like Houston in that game. I think Stoops gets out coached again.

The standing theory, is that these players were given extreme discounts on exotic vehicles, for a future stake in their professional careers.

I should also add that no boosters were involved in this incident, either.

Everything you posted I have the same sentiments.

I'm very curious to see what the Hokies will bring this year. It feels as though Miami & Va Tech are flipping positions ... Golden was an Offense oriented guy. But he couldn't figure out how to contain the other ACC offensive packages. Now with Richt we're switching to a Defense priority team.

Yeah, Texas, I don't buy it either ... It's been long enough now that they should have already made some steps toward progress. I realize there was going to be a down time when Strong got rid of a few problems players. But, at some point you have to start moving forward. I'm just not sure they are ready to do that in Austin.

I do believe Houston has real potential. And there is no excuse that can be made. If Oklahoma loses, it will because Houston was the better team on the field ... With the Cougars beating fsu in the Peach Bowl, the lame duck "we slept on it" cliche will not fly. The Sooners will play their best game they can give Houston. If the Cougars win, then they'll be off to a better start, and they'll be watched the rest of the season, as a team of interest --- while on the tails side of that coin, Oklahoma losing will have everyone raising an eyebrow at the Big XII. [should Houston win; the Big XII may have to respond by opening an invite to the conference]

I also haven't been paying much attention nationally either, this summer. So I truly cannot give a a rounded perspective on the college football landscape as a whole.

With Miami changing coaches, and trying to follow the development of the team in the new system, along with yet another player scandal --- I haven't really taking the time to gain an overview for the upcoming season; other than, oo, I wanna see that game, and, man I hope the `Canes show up for the game here in South Bend.

I mean, I won't mind if we lose [well, yes I will] ... I just hope if we do lose,it won't be as bad as what happened to Texas last year vs the dome heads.
