BSU won.....I think Mississippi was better than I thought they would be....Boise was not.....those are tough games to judge....The commentators gave no insight.....Boise State is disciplined....they make their assignments reasonably well..but they do not have all the strength and speed they are used to. Ian Johnson has got to get pass the line of scrimmage and did not have a lot of help.

No probably to it, Southern Miss has been the best Mississippi school for several years now. The SEC is tough, and this pushes things to the extreme. It helps the big boys with the National Spotlight, the boys who have teams that come in somewhere between 15 and 40th in the country you get a churn...big wins...surprising losses. The bottom dwellers (if you let yourself get there) have a hard time climbing out. Kids get to see you get pounded by the big boys, and if they are going to pick a school, those colleges in the gulf coast states just don't seem all that far away. (I've driven I-10 and I-20 more than I would have ever cared to in my down, it just seems you can put a state behind you quicker than the map suggests, and they don't look too different (from Texarkana to Jacksonville, IMO).

From reading your posts, you seem to be a person who prides himself on his intelligence and knowledge. I would like to politely correct you on errors you have made in the two previous posts on this thread. The school in which you were referring to is the University of Southern Mississippi a.k.a Southern Miss or USM. First you referred to it as Mississippi State, as in the Bulldogs from Starkville. Then you stated Mississippi, which is short for University of Mississippi, which is more commonly known by its nickname Ole Miss.

Doesn't everyone love a smart butt like me.
If you choose to be a smart butt, that is your issue, not mine. I do not pride myself in anything. Pride is not a virtue nor is pedantry. I apologize if I have called your sacred schools something other than their correct name. I watched a game last night, one team had Southern Mississippi on their helmets; apparently they wanted to be sure they were disassociated and not confused with any other school from that state; I can understand that.
(Note to Board Censors: I type the word smart (butt) and it was automatically replace with butt...apparently smart butt is OK...albeit not even a word. I guess Mr. David is comments only apply to his sensitivities and not to Mrs. Wallenthrop's, my third grade teacher, who thought spelling counted...a doctrine I have never really subscribed to, thinking that subject to be highly over rated.) It has been a long time since I have been censored for using offensive language of a vile nature. The power of the pen is no longer mightier than the microprocessor....

Seems the people from the South can not quite agree on who played Boise State last night....from the announcers at the game...I can believe that.....

All of you should be glad you got to watch a game last night no matter who you thought was playing, I still have no electricity and even if I take electricity from across the street, my cable is out from the people trying to fix the electrical problem.

Don't fret about the various Mississippi's...
Ain't it just fun enough spelling the state name out loud? I learned that when I was six.
I'm partial to Southern Miss...heck, I've been partial to all southern misses.
and...although they may not be on top of the SEC, both Mississippi SEC schools are known for being a very tough underdog and for playing a hard hitting type of defense.

Win or Lose - IT'S HOW YOU HYPE THE OUTCOME! BCS logic: When teams in the AQ conferences lose, it shows how tough those conferences are; when teams in non-AQ conferences lose, it is weakness.
Re: Boise State reality check
Where have you been....have seen Boise play twice in person.....The Washington game was pretty sloppy..on both teams part......The wide open game has stopped.....they have controlled the other games, but not the big runaway scores. Hawaii will be tough...my expectation is no team will go undefeated. BSU may win the conference...but they look vulnerable....
When they were over here in Washington, I do not think they handled the whole situation well. Coach Peterson would not let any of the players be interviewed by the sports shows.....they could not talk about the Fiesta Bowl.....it is one thing to not rely on that...but they won...they should share in that and certainly that is what the public wants to hear about...got a lost of bad paper and radio press because of that....and they lost the game....so....not good...Puget Sound is a big recruiting area for them....

Well...almost half time.......what I really want to listen to is five minutes of Chris Spielman talking about Ohio State and some dribble about their soft schedule and how they do this and that and on and on about something...yes five minutes of almost inaudible prattle.........ESPN if you don;t want to broadcast the game then don;t. Big Budgets schools can recruit and all the other must figure out why athletes would want to come to their school......This is the same guy that said WAC schools can not compete with anyone..........I am glad he was there to see his Alma Mater play Kent State High School.

I agree that Chris shouldn't have been talking about Ohio State on a Boise St. -Nevada game. That is uncalled for and the fans don't care. That is why Chris isn't allowed to do Buckeye games, he is too big a homer to sound credible or unbias concerning Ohio State.
Herby on the other hand does a pretty good job of keeping his bias covered. So good that lots of Buckeye fans don't like him any more because he tries to be balanced in his views. He is a Buckeye too, but he has to try and be fair on the air and I think for the most part he does that and remains honest.

Good game between Boise State and Nevada. Fourth overtime. Nice win. I really like Chris Peterson as a coach. He is something.

Re: Boise State reality check
If nothing else...it was entertaining...
I thought for awhile if Hawaii was playing either team they would have 112 points...There were some good passes and some missed assignments...sometimes Boise's defensive line does not show up...anyway....was entertaining.
Peterson has his own personality for a young coach.

You are definitely right about the Auburn vs Arkansas game. That was a painfully boring game to watch. Homer fans will talk about the great defenses, but in actuality it was really two terrible offensive teams struggling.

Razorhawk....Ark before that game was averaging 44 points and 515 yards a game. They played an outstanding defense. The Hogs are not a terrible offense and will be fine in that department in the coming weeks. To me seeing both teams score on every possession is no more intertaining then seeing neither team score. One game absolutely no defense, and the other no offense.
